Another Great Perkins Bowie for My Collection
Another great Perkins blade for my collection! I have about 15-16 of Perkins' knives and haven't received one yet that I did not like. You cannot beat these knives for the cost. AS for this one- this is a very large Bowie! The construction is very good with a full tang, brass guard and Packawood grips. Grips may be a trifle small for some, but I like the feel. Lanyard hole in butt, with leather thong that I immediately replaced with some heavier leather cord. For such a large handmade knife it has a pretty straight profile (looking down the knife) and nice symmetrical grind. The edge arrived shaving sharp and the point is perfect. The sheath may be the only minor issue, but I don't buy these knives for the sheathes. The belt loop is not sewn, but is attached with a couple of rivets as are many of these Perkins knives. The weight of the knife may prove challenging in the field for the rivets. If it doesn't last there are lots of after market and custom sheath options out there, so it's not a big deal. Overall - top quality Bowie!

Brilliant Bowie Bought. BAM!
Bought this not knowing anything about Perkins and I’m happily surprised. I am no knife expert, but it’s evident how well this feels in the hand, with just the right amount.of heft and weight. The knife is a bargain compared to Bowies double, even triple the cost of this solid, piece of steel. It’s a sharp ‘mo, be careful.

Great Bowie Knife at a Great Price
I was a little wary about this knife because the picture doesn't show a knife shape in place of the "i" on the picture shown. A helpful person answered my question about it and said it does come with the proper stamp. They were right and I later received a beautiful bowie knife. It is full tang with a slightly hollow saber grind. My girlfriend lit a fire with a fero rod and the spine of this knife's blade easily. The handle is iridescent grey & beige pakka wood and fits well in my semi-large hand, which can grip a basketball, but not well. The blade came hair shaving sharp, but had a few tiny chips on the micro bevel of the blade that I had to strop out. That is the reason I only gave the knife four stars. The blade's back-clip is not sharpened, but was easy to do on mine. The sheath is ok. It is made from real leather that seems sturdy, but the skinny securing strap could be cut accidentally if you put the knife away in its sheath hastily.

Poor finish
While the knife blade is sharp and has a mirror finish, the tang has black streaks of from, I assume, the epoxy? used to adhere the scales. When I compare the finish of the knife and the sheath to other similarly priced knives I own, it is disappointing. The handle and balance are OK. If I can't clean it up will return.

Superb quality and craftsmanship !!!
I was very impressed at the craftsmanship, exactly it was much better then I truly expected. The leather work is heavy duty, stitching appears to be strong, the blade and hand have a define flow of symmetry. The blade is extremely shape as well. The direction of care are well written and easy to understand the proper way to care so you get a life time of use.Haven't had a chance to use for deep woods hiking and hunting but feel confident it far surpasses all expectation.UPDATE:Recently had an opportunity to really give this product a good workout.A small group of volunteers ,along with myself, were asked to assist with walking and the clearing of trails of a wild life sanctuary. This product was used for brush clearing with great ease. The group shared using it. All had positive response of the quality ,ease of use and we're going to look to purchase.Because of their reviews exknowledge This was a quaility and well informed purchase .

Doing the happy dance!
Sharp as a razor, hefty with good balance, and just feels right in the hand. Large enough to satisfy the hiker or hunter, which will be a versatile addition to any gear bag. Very impressed with the whole package. The sheath is very well made, sturdy, and a good fit.

A Bargain At The Price
This is a very good medium large size Bowie. Anything much larger mones into sword or machete territory. The blade on mine is about 3/16 of an inch, which is a trifle thin for a knife of this size, but serviceable, and better polished than is usually seen on a knife such as this. The edge was quite satisfactory. Be aware that the handle is quite smooth, to the point of actually being slick. The supplied lanyard should be used for anh yeavy chopping. Wrapping with tenis handle tape is suggested. The sheath is adequate, but of a style that I do not care for, but no real problem, as my intention when buying the knife was to make a proper one myself.
