I originally had installed a standard £5 automatic gate latch on this, but the force of the gate closing kept on pulling out the screws of the rod bit of the latch. I tried fixing it twice by drilling into the gate and gluing in a hardwood dowel to which I would screw the rod to, but even that failed eventually. In the end I decided to bite the bullet and purchase this and haven't looked back. It may seem like a simple idea of having additional screws perpendicular to the direction of the force (i.e. screws in the side of the gate), but this is the only latch I could find which had this. And latch build quality it superb and the whole thing is solid and seems like it will last for years. It does also have a lock & key mechanism, but I don't bother using it on this small gate.

I bought this a while back. Very sturdy. Always in the sun and no sign of deteriorating. It's a great lock so far.
