I didn’t expect this furry toy to last long, given my whippet’s tendency to destroy everything in sight. But now it’s been 10 days and there are a perfect body, two squeakers, and a head left. Gone are 4 squeakers and, after he chewed each of the 4 tiny feet loose, I cut them off before he could swallow them. Here’s the good and the bad about this “flat hedgy.”The Good: - My whippet brings it to me to play, takes it to bed, and sleeps with it — he likes it! - This toy lasted longer than I expected it to last. - There’s no polyester fiberfill batting to swallow or redecorate my home. - This thing flies like a rocky frisbee which makes it more fun for me.The Bad: - The fur sheds a bit, especially after a bout of houndie chewing. But whatever fibers I find left behind are just so much more that didn’t go into my dog, for which I am grateful. - The 8-inch toy is probably smaller than you would buy for a big dog, but it was plenty big enough for my 30-pound, 25-inch hound to enjoy.The Ugly:- This pancake hedgy is weird-looking, but after a bit, it is really hilarious to have around. If you don’t get the joke, bend it in the middle with all 4 legs on the floor and you’ll see the resemblance.How about the environment? - “Flat Hedgy” is made in China of polyester plush, which is another name for polyethylene. Its standard round squeakers are made of polyethylene, too. Polyethylene is typically strong, clean, and inert. It can be made from recycled plastic, and I suggest that you recycle it with your plastic bottles. PE is not very biodegradable in a landfill, although there are some bacteria and lichen that eat it.How do you wash it? - I wash it on cold with biodegradable detergent and dry on low cycle. OR I wash it in the sink with hand soap, squeeze it out until the water runs clean, then let it dry in the tub.What else is important? - The price is right, and therein lies the rub. For a few dollars more, you could probably buy the Deluxe Colorful Caterpillar from the same manufacturer, and that is a more substantial toy. Of course, if your dog isn’t a chewer, then it doesn’t matter. Get whichever one you chews, er, choose.Recommendations: - I recommend this toy for any small to medium dog that chews lightly. Or for a shorter lifespan, I recommend it for any medium dog who likes to play rough, as long as you supervise poochie’s play activity.I hope this review has been really useful to you! Usually I buy cheap little toys for my corgis but those cheap ones don't last very long. Sometimes my dogs would bust through the cheap toys the first time they play with them. I saw this hedgehog and decided to take a chance on something that cost a little more money. I'm so glad I did. This hedgehog has lasted MONTHS between two dogs! Half its face has been chewed up and two squeakies had to be removed (no choking hazards for us!) But hedgehog is still in working condition otherwise. My dog sometimes looks for this toy in his toybox and will bring it to me. It's definitely in his top 3 favorite toys. I will be buying another soon

This is pretty much the only toy that I have bought repeatedly for my little 5 pound dog in the past 3 years. She's completely obsessed, brings it to me all throughout the day to throw it for her, sleeps with it and Cries like a baby if it falls under the dresser and she can't get to it. She tears it up and breaks out all the squeakers but it takes her way longer than other Toys. Then it's time to come back and buy another 3 pack.

My dog's goal in life is to find and destroy all squeakers. This toy gave him a sense of purpose. It held on to it's last squeaker for a few weeks but my dog ultimately prevailed. We've had a few toys that lasted a bit longer but it did the trick.

My dog loves to tear apart his toys and has a thing for hedgehogs. He’s had this for a few months now and it’s his new favorite! It’s held up so far and is a great value for the cost.

My dog is obsessed with this toy and its the first toy she really liked. Everything else just goes in the bin. And its only the sheep, she had no interest in the ladybug. She sit and nibbles on it for hours. She is about 33 pounds so not a tiny dog, and this toy lasts for.months. I think I need to stick up cuz she's going to be devastated if there's a day without this sheep.

This is a really cute toy, but that’s where the delight ends. I gave it to my Bichon/ Shih Tzu on Christmas day. The squeakers lasted a matter of minutes.. Last night she decided it was time to remove one of the eyes.She pulled it 3/4’s of the way off which meant I had to take the toy away from her. The eye is a hard little thing, I was afraid she would remove it completely and choke on it, also the end of the squeaker was exposed.

Our dog, who is an outside dog, has been spending some time in the house since the passing of our cat who was her constant companion. Because all her outside toys have been "outside" toys, we didn't want to bring them in the house, so we got her this for inside. She loves squeak toys and this one has enough squeakers to keep her more than happy. Also, the design allows her to put her nose in it and throw it over her shoulder...not always a good thing for us, but she's happy! May even get her another on the spring for outside play... at least until snowblower weather...
