Review: Absolutely Fabulous! - I am very excited about this yogurt maker (OK I don't get out as much as I should...) It looks great and performs even better. It doesn't require any electricity either. The unit comes with a little 4-colour booklet full of useful information. It includes recipes for many kinds of yogurt and other fermentables, including Greek yogurt and plant milk yogurts. For my first foray into yogurt making, I used 3.8% mf goat milk and Yogourmet starter. There was a sentimental reason for this. Many years ago, I worked at St. Mary's Hospital in London, where I befriended a lady who lived in Hampstead Heath and kept a goat. She made wonderful raw milk goat yogurt flavoured with blackberries from the heath. I will never forget that incredible flavour and practically lived on the stuff for a year. Many decades later, I tried store-bought goat yogurts, but none came close and most tasted just like cow. The yogurt was a little runny (first try!) but had enough lumpiness to be called yogurt and not kefir. I stirred in some unsweetened blackberry jam and... AND (!) the flavour that I remember so well was right there in the jar. This tells me that, even though the milk was pasteurized, something magical happens when you make homemade yogurt, and/or something is lost in the commercial production process. I can thoroughly recommend this yogurt maker.

Third, I love the simplistic functionality of the design- it’s back to basics, no need for electricity to run for hours. Sure it’s a glass jar in a stainless steel thermal container, but it works perfectly! Fourth, no repeated purchasing of yogurt in plastic containers. Lastly, it made delicious tasting yogurt! You do need a reliable thermometer to make yogurt, which is not included in the kit. I used Euro Cuisine Yogurt Thermometer-analog dial type. The overall process was faster and less cumbersome than when I used my InstantPot, so it really is a great little yogurt maker!

**Q: I see multiple reviews saying that this didnt hold the temperature for the time needed...how do I know if the yogurt came out properly?**
A: I saw the same reviews , so when I got my yogurt maker- almost a year ago- would go back about 3 hours after pouring milk in unit and refresh the warm water. Since the first few times I have stopped doing that. I think it’s really important to fill both stainless and glass containers with warm water (113 degrees) while you’re preparing yogurt mix, then dump all except the 1 cup that remains in stainless container. My yogurt has turned out perfectly every single time. The texture is perfect, so I don’t think that exact temperature is so necessary. I wonder if it’s not better to keep the unit closed and not be opening it and checking?

**Q: How many ounces does it make?**
A: Thanks for your question.  This Yogurt Maker can make up to 1 quart or 32 oz of yogurt in one batch.  If you would like to make small batches of yogurt you can half fill the jar and it will still work the same way.

**Q: How many hours does it retain heat.  Can you let yogurt sit in it for 24 hours?**
A: Great question. You could do a 24-hour ferment in this flask. You may want to pop some warm water around the jar at the 12-hour mark if you are trying for a longer ferment. I'm curious to learn more about a 24-hour yogurt ferment - what is the reason for the long ferment and what temperature are you trying to hold? We recommend an 8-hour ferment at around 104° - 113°F for the best quality yogurt. This is the temperature that gets the cultures working well to acidify and thicken the milk and stop any unwanted bacteria growing. If you ferment for a longer period at a lower temperature you could get a thin slimy yogurt and unwanted growth of yeasts and molds. If you ferment for a longer period at a higher temperature you could get a super sour yogurt with separation of solids and liquids as the culture runs out of food. **Q: i’ve never made yogart ... how do i get the correct temperature ? and any helpful hints? also are there easy instructions with it ?**
A: I bought an electric thermometer to get the temp of the milk to almost boiling (@194 F) and then to cool and add culture. I’ve fou d i can use 3-4 TB of previous yogurt to culture for 2-3 batches and then need to add powder culture. I heat the canister w hot water and the. Let sit for 24 hours bathe yogurt is delicious, creamy and plastic packaging free!! Highly recommend

Works perfectly, and the included recipe and I formationbook is very good.. helped me up my yoghurt game! I made a jar (850mls.. the quart is the outer steel flask) of lovely thick soya yoghurt using a dollop of bought Alpro, but I ordered cultures too, and will try those next time. About 50p fir 850 mls great, fresh, live yoghurt!
