Review: My Favorite Period Underwear (so far) - I have tried three different kinds of period underwear as an alternative to pads with the hopes of being more environmentally friendly. I have never used tampons, because I have a tilted uterus and find tampons uncomfortable, so my opinion on the comfort of period underwear comes from previously only using pads. When comparing pads vs. period underwear, the period underwear wins, no matter the brand, they are all more comfortable than pads. Of the three brands I have tried, these Goat Union ones are my favorite. The other two brands I have tried are Unders and Bambody. Below I'll rank the brands in order from best to worst in a few categories: Fit: Goat Union, Bambody, Unders. The Unders ones are the only ones I don't like the fit of, as they roll down and dig into my c-section scar. Goat Union are a really high waist (over the belly button), and Bambody are a little below the belly button. I like the higher waist and the cut on the leg holes best on the Goat Union. For reference, I'm a US size 12 and ordered a Large. Feel: Bambody, Goat Union, Unders. The Bambody are the softest and have the best stretch. All three stay about equally dry feeling on a heavy day. Price: Bambody, Goat Union, Unders. You get three pairs of Bambody for the price of one Unders, and slightly more than the price of two Goat Union. Absorption: Goat Union, then a tie between Bambody and Unders. All three can deal with a full night heavy flow for me, but the Goat Union have a much larger area with the absorbent layers. I love that the absorbing area goes all the way up high in the front and the back, rather than just in the lower gusset area like Bambody and Unders. Goat Union feel much less likely to leak overnight, though none of them have leaked on me yet. Smell: Unders, Goat Union, Bambody. This is honestly a big one, especially if you don't work from home. On heavy days the Bambody will start to smell after about 2 hours, and Goat Union after about 4-5, while the Unders can go 6-8 without smell. And it's just impractical to change underwear every 2 hours if you are at work or school. Aesthetic: Bambody, Goat Union, Unders. The Bambody are the best looking on my body, and they come in a few different colors which is nice, while Goat Union and Unders are only in black. The biggest thing that made Goat Union not rank first in this category though, was the weird mesh strip below the waist band. Not only does it just look kind of weird, but it also is like a weird peek-a-boo window for my stretch marks, and while I don't hate my stretch marks, I don't exactly like to highlight them either. Although Bambody technically won in more categories than Goat Union, I LIKE the Goat Union better, their biggest draw is that huge absorbing channel that goes all the way up to the mesh line in the front and back, it makes them feel so much more secure than the other two brands, at least for me. The smell absorption is another big one, it's the place where Bambody really fails wearers, and while Goat Union isn't as good as the Unders in that category, they still do a pretty good job. Review: Exactly What I Needed – No More Overnight Leaks! - These Goat Union Overnight Period Underwear are truly a game-changer for anyone with a heavy flow, especially during the night. I’ve tried several menstrual underwear brands, and this one finally checks all the boxes—comfortable, secure, leakproof, and full coverage. They fit snugly without being tight, and the material is soft, breathable, and not bulky at all. What I love most is that they give me peace of mind during sleep—no more waking up to check for leaks or dealing with stained sheets. They stay in place, absorb a lot, and hold up very well after washing. The full coverage design is exactly what I was looking for. It provides maximum protection, especially on those first couple of nights when my flow is the heaviest. I also appreciate that they come in a pack of two, which is super convenient for rotating between washes. Plus, they’re FSA/HSA eligible, which is a great bonus for anyone using health benefits to cover period care essentials. If you’ve been looking for reliable, well-made period underwear that actually works for overnight heavy flow, this is it. I’ll definitely be buying more!

Fits wonderful, *SOME* leakage?
Okay here is my unbiased review. This is my second period using these panties and I really like them. I definitely will be buying more. The very first day I wore them I went all in: heavy flow with no tampon or pad. I wore them for about 4/5 hours but I was really nervous. I checked and had some leakage around the seams. I am not sure if it was too heavy of a flow or what. If you have more clots than liquid these might not be the best for you because the clots just sit at the surface. So I gave up and switched back to pads for the rest of my period. But for the next cycle, I wore them overnight on my heavy day and had no issues. Then I wore my second pair for about 5 hours and no leakage. I think for any regular length period you'd probably need 8-10 pairs to switch out and have on standby. You also have to be comfortable rinsing them out in the sink. Then just toss them in the washer. I line-dry to avoid any shrinking. The mesh top is really comfortable and they fit like a swim bottom. They do make a swishing sound when you walk but you can easily mask that with different clothing types. I wear them with leggings and you can't even tell they are there. No diaper look whatsoever. They are really worth the price. I have noticed less cramping since wearing these at the beginning of my periods and they just feel more comfortable than any other period products.

No More Overnight Stress!
I have been using both the Goat Union Overnight Period Underwear and Bambody Absorbent Panties for several months and am very happy with how well they handle heavy overnights. I had been using Depends at least one night per cycle because pads were no match for my heaviest nights, and even an ultra tampon would bleed through by 3 AM. This underwear is so much more comfortable and attractive! (And of course a lot less waste.) I wake up feeling relatively fresh instead of sticky and crusty. No more worries about stained pajamas and sheets. Below is a longer review of both products for those who may be new to period underwear like I am. I prefer the Goat Union underwear because of its higher absorbency and somewhat superior comfort and style. They both are comfortable to wear and work well for overnights. I have not found them as useful for daytimes because they don’t last all day. I tried each brand for an all-morning boat trip on a super-heavy day (when I would normally be changing a pad every 1-2 hours) and had leaks after 4-6 hours. On a lighter day, when they could absorb the flow, by afternoon I notice a slight odor and would prefer to put on a fresh pad. However, I will try them again for hikes and other times with no bathroom access for a few hours. The downside is cleanup. I usually rinse them out in the shower in the morning, which is when you get to see everything that magically disappeared into the underwear during the night. However, a couple times when I was on a campout and didn’t have good place to rinse them, I just put them in a plastic bag and rinsed them a day or two later when I got home, and it was fine. They take well over 24 hours to air dry, so you can’t hand wash them and hang them up and wear them again that night! I have been machine washing and drying them because of that. If you haven’t tried reusable period underwear, I definitely recommend it. These two brands are more affordable than some. I will probably purchase another Goat Union pair.

Comfy and effective, great plus sizes.
I hate to shill for any brand, but these are SO GOOD that I've definitely recommended them to people on the Plus Size subreddit at least twice. Which, come to think of it, is probably where I heard about them in the first place. They're comfy, they don't leak, and they ACTUALLY come in sizes up to what would normally be considered around a 3X or even 4X. Wonderful!! Oh and you're supposed to wash/dry them a bit delicately, I think, but to be perfectly honest we've been throwing them in with everything else for at least a year now and they're fine.

Nice but day one the mesh is coming apart
I like the pad part of the underwear however a part of the mesh separated from the top band so there’s a hole. I have to be extra careful to not pull up too fast where it’ll rip off. I hope I can get a couple of uses at least.

The only period undies I like!
These are great period undies! They're not particularly stylish, they're quite big with a lot of coverage, but we're not really trying to look cute in our period undies (especially in our final few years -- I hope! -- of this phase of life) so they get the job done. They fit snugly but don't bind or dig in. They stay put. They catch what they need to catch. After a long day they can feel heavy and damp, but so do all period undies (in my experience). They're cheaper and better than Thinx, in my opinion. I bought a bunch of them and now they're all I use. I'm a pants size 10 or so, and I wear size large of these.

We have needed these forever
LADIES hear me out seriously. Periods suck. Pads suck and we all know how easy all the other products are.. I am a heavy, CSI scene every month. I hate pads they all leak and leave me raw. But on my heaviest flow days where I would be changing every hour or so with a pad that had bunched up into a wad or ripped because of movement and is completely soaked leaving a red line in my underwear or clothing. I can wear these for 2 hours and nothing on my clothing. I can wear dresses without feeling like everything is wide open. These were a game changer. I work in Public Health and have cute wet bag that has extra pairs, my peri bottle to clean me up and a space for the soiled panties. Nobody ever notices , there is no smell, and it all gets tossed when I get home after an 8 hour day. I got through about 3 pair a day on my heavy normal days and maybe 5 on my worst. and like 1pair on the lightest days. I own about 10 pair of these 2 pair of thinx and 3 pair of lite thinx. And i was daily just toss when I get home and dry and redo stuff the bag for work. The upfront cost is decent for these and FSA pays for them. You can take time to build up too. But I was going through pads like a super pack heavy overnight pads of name brand organic for the price of 1 pair every three days and I have 7 to 10 day cycles so they pay for themselves. They wash well no piling and they are super comfy and don't roll down my belly.

Run Large
I ordered a size according to the measurements on the chart (4X), and they’re waaay too big. Having said that, I’ve worn them anyway to see how they are, just putting a proper fitting size of underwear over them. I like the way they feel; the fabric is soft and comfortable. No issue with leakage either. I’ve ordered down a couple of sizes (2x) and hope the next ones fit better. For the ones I have now, I think I’ll actually take them in on the sides just so I can still use them. So far my experience is that I’d recommend these.

Very high waist, but very high capacity
You'll want to be wary of crop tops, even in your most high-waisted pants, but if you aren't worried about showing your midriff and more concerned about avoiding leakage, these are fantastic. Pros: - Significant capacity (two cycles of heavy flows and no leaks, so I ordered a second set to not have to do laundry every day) - Machine wash cold, tumble dry low - Odor reduction (much better than pads) Cons but not deal breakers (especially if you only use these overnight): - Seat isn't terribly wide at the bottom, could be more generous for such full-coverage briefs (Aerie's boybriefs actually cover your whole backside) - Thick binding on the edges, coupled with the above can cause visible panty lines even through jeans. - VERY high waist, the last inch of which is solely aesthetic (and could go IMO)
