Inspired
I think one of the many reasons I loved "Terry" so much is, compared to Unbroken, which was an extremely heavy POW story, Terry's story is a child's perspective as a POW during WWII. Even though she faced constant danger and death in the prison camp and at the hands of the Japanese soldiers, she was still able to find happiness, meaning, and purpose in her young life. So, although the circumstances that surrounded were heavy, Terry's story is one that could only be told from a child's perspective. Her story is full of light, hope, and even joy.And if you need to be inspired to be a better parent, reading about Terry's Mom and Dad, Violet and Norris, was amazing. Terry's family was living in the Philippines when the Japanese invaded and after hiding in the jungle, decided their best chance of survival was to surrender to the Japanese forces (try and wrap your head around having to make that decision as a parent). As they were about to surrender, Norris gave Terry a piece of advice that has had a daily impact on my life, "Live each day to the best of your ability. Do not get caught up looking so far ahead that, worrying about the future, you get discouraged and lose hope."So, needless to say, I recommend this book to anyone looking for an inspirational read with my whole heart.

A Leadership Perspective
"Inspiring" is the best word to describe the book, "Terry." The horrific ordeals of a POW camp are difficult to fathom, however, some of the most valuable life lessons are contained in the prisoner's experiences. Terry Warne captures these lessons in an easy-read, yet intense eyewitness account. Her story proves that we have the right to choose our response...the right to choose hope in the face of dismal odds...the ability to be charitable in the most hostile circumstances. As an officer in the United States military, I particularly found Norris Wadsworth, Terry's father and a POW camp leader, a compelling example of leadership worthy of emulation. It is interesting to juxtapose today's complex management theories with Norris' simple and effective leadership philosophy. I strongly believe that it was his leadership that saved not only the lives of his family, but many in the POW camp as well. I aspire to be like him.Bottom-line, "Terry" is a book that will renew your patriotism. I will ensure that my children and future grandchildren read it. Personally and professionally, I will refer to it repeatedly throughout my life.

Terry
This is truly an inspiring account of what this young girl and her family and friends experienced as POWs when the Japanese invaded the Phillipines during WWII. It is the first account I've read written about a child who lived it. I was held spellbound at the same time that I was repulsed by what was happening to them. It truly is life changing. We all need to fight for our freedom before something else happens. This reinforces the saying that FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. Many people have paid the price for us. This promises to be a best seller.

I was not disappointed in reading her full story
This was written by a friend of mine. I had heard her tell parts of her story and I had read a magazine article she had written. I was not disappointed in reading her full story. She is an inspiring lady.

Interesting book. My husband 's mother, aunt and grandmother along with other family were also interred at Santo Tomas during war. My sister-in-law recommended this book.
I truly enjoyed this book. Many things felt familiar due to our own family history stories. Learned more history about the prison camps .

A story that had to be told.
Terry has been able to brilliantly tell the story of the horrors of war through the eyes of a child. This is a magnificent detailed work which is heart rending to the reader but also awe inspiring. This story needs to be told on the big screen. It has the potential to inspire millions. Nothing quite like it has ever been written before.

Terry, a good read
I loved this book so much, but then I know the author personally and she is a wonderful, happy, uplifting person. She came and told her story to a group of women and I was there. She is such a wonderful person. I knew her story, but I didn't realize she had written a book until just before I purchased it.
