Important: Unlocks when handle turned from the inside
Before I get into my main gripe around the inside locking mechanism, let me say that this is a fairly good mid-level lock. Nothing to write home about, just honestly about what you'd expect for the fairly reasonable price-point. I got the Matte Black Latitude Colins style lever and I must say, that design and finish-wise, it does look terrific. I will also commend Schlage for not using garbage quality screws that actually maintained their black colour without revealing any silver after a couple rounds of aggressive screwing-in and screwing-out. Where I am however so disapointed with this lock, is the choice of the locking mechanism. To explain how it works: from the indoor side, there is a nib, that you can either set to the horizontal position (locked), or the vertical position (unlocked). The way this lock works, is that regardless of the locking position you've set the nib to, turning the handle from the inside will unlock the door. I do understand this is a 'safety' feature for as fluid egress as possible in the case of emergency, but it's super important for me to have confidence around the door's locked status, and with this system, there is no mechanical way to verify that the door is indeed locked, because as soon as you test the handle, it unlocks! You basically just have to closely at the nip (not easy when the entire lock is the same colour), and only visually verify that it is indeed locked in the horizontal position. My preferred mechanism would be to set the nib to the horizontal position, as it does, but to only be able to unlock the door from the inside by *first* setting the nib to the vertical position (essentially acting like a tiny deadbolt). This is the first lock I have ever purchased, and I honestly didn't know this was something I was so passionate about that I would have to keep a look out for when selecting a lock, but now I know!

Schlage lock works
The Schlage Keyed entry lock was easy enough to install. Didn't really need to refer to the instructions. Seems like a quality product that provides adequate security. Looks great. Just be careful with the bottom lock as it locks opposite of usual Schlage locks or most locks for that matter and it's too easy to lock yourself out...ask me how I know? LOL

Schlage quality, great new design
I really love the new customizable collection! The door handles are heavy and feel very high quality. I got the latitude handles; they turn very easily and install just like any other Schlage door handle. It's really nice that you can convert any passage handle to a locking one, instead of replacing the whole knob. Make sure you keep the hardware for future changes. The quality is as to be expected from Schlage, the only door handles we install on our jobs. These were a great purchase and gave the perfect look to our more modern rustic home. The flat black is beautiful and coordinates with our other hardware well. The finish (based on past experience, not on this particular purchase) is easy to damage with harsh cleaning products, so stick with something mild...they clean really well with just a damp rag, too.
