Being several inches off the ground really is the best way to stay warm. Even in extreme cold, I imagine fewer extra measures would need to be taken with this one than with other types of pads (as another reviewer suggested, a mylar blanket would be good).It's really as comfortable as a sleeping pad can be. The pillow feature is great. I'm also a side sleeper, and this keeps my precious hip bones from screaming in pain in the mornings.I've had this for two years now -- used it on several backpacking trips, lent it out to friends, and it's holding up very well. Easy to inflate, easy to roll back up and bag. It's soooo small and light. I love that I can throw it in my pack rather than strapping it to the outside.One star off because it's *incredibly* noisy when you turn over on it. Especially in the woods in the dead of night, so if your tent partner (or even campsite partners) are light sleepers, they might not be so happy. Also there's no patch kit. ### ⭐ Edited: Slow Leak / Deflates Overnight *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2019* EDITED: I bought another sleeping pad in March, 2020 since we had good success with previous purchases. However, I didn't use it until a camping trip in June. This one has a slow leak. I tried every method possible to find the leak, but I cannot find it. Otherwise, I would just repair it. I cannot find any way to contact the manufacturer so I have to write a bad review. This is very disappointing. If the manufacturer contacts me and exchanges the mattress for me, I'll write revise my review back to 5 stars. This one seems to hold air at first. I tested it before taking it camping. However, it slowly loses air overnight and is about 75% deflated by morning.Previous review:I purchased 2 of these for a week long tent camping trip in the Rockies back in 2017. We tent camped, but inflating air mattresses and trying to haul them from the car to the tent was getting to be a pain. I wanted something that packed down smaller, would be easy to inflate, yet was still comfortable. These definitely fit the bill. My son was able to inflate his, and these are super comfortable. We've taken them on several camping trips since then, and they hold their air, and we've had no problems at all. These mats are seriously so comfortable. I can sleep on my side without my body touching the ground. This was our 1st camping trip more than a few nights so comfort was very important to me. Some people have mentioned that they are slippery. Yes, that's true, but I use that to my advantage. It allows me to easily roll around from side to side like my sleeping bag is part of me, instead of trying to move and adjust in my sleeping bad while keeping my sleeping bad in the same position. That's much harder to do because clothing moves around or bunches up that way. I'm ordering another for my husband now who is finally ready to ditch the big ol' inflatable air mattress. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far so good *by K***N on Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2017* When I get items like this I make sure I pay attention to how they come out and have been folded or rolled. It helps make sure it gets rolled up right and fits back in the bag. Everyone in the family loved how the bag of air pumps this pad up. It took about 5ish bags of air to get the pad aired up. There are no instructions to it but it doesn't take rocket science to figure out. However, for those of us without engineering minds, there are three air pieces on the pad, the cap, the air hole, and another air piece that pops into the hole so you can air up the pad without losing air, like a bike tire. They just pop in and out (not twist) so just pop the part in that looks like the part on bike tires into the main hole, then we found you can just put the air bag's piece right on to the pad then open the bag real wide to let air in, then cinch top with hands to trap air and push down and it fills the pad. Super easy. When pad is full pop off the air bag piece (no air will escape because of the other piece you should have popped into the air hole on the pad) and put cap on. You're good to go. Naturally, we knew the pad was full when there was resistance with the air bag. The air bag has some weird band in it and clips. Personally the creators of this bag need to save space and weight by getting rid of that. It's just to help keep the air in the bag. I think a draw string would be fine or nothing really put there because you'll naturally find yourself using your hands to cinch the bag tight to trap the air, and its way faster too. What they have now is weird and adds bulk especially when you roll it back up with the pad. I can see where I could eventually take the buckles and weird plastic piece out. I added some pictures. They're not great but one is showing part of the buckle and it was easy to roll back up and get back into the bag. Super easy to deflate and get ALL the air out. Just remember to pay attention to how it comes out of the package and you'll have no problems getting it back in. I had a sleeping bag that I read reviews that said it was hard to put back in bag. Not us, but to their credit it was folded differently then I would have done. So just pay attention. We all loved the thickness and comfort of this pad aired up. It's compact, lightweight, a width is good. It did NOT come with a patch kit. I will update if we have problems with it (like staying aired up or holes and such) after our trip in July. Otherwise, happy with our purchase.
