I bought it to help with some precision cuts in some DIY projects, so thus far haven't had any opportunity to do some of the more complex things that this square can offer, but in terms of verifying the alignment of blades, marks and so forth, it seems ideal. Whether spending more gets you more I can't say - it is, after all, a fairly simple device and there's not a lot to go wrong so I didn't see a whole lot of point in spending more.
