Kovot Apple Shaped Mesh Fruit Basket | Keep Freshness In & Bugs Out

I've been battling fruit flies on and off all times of the year. Since buying this I've not seen one! I Even tested it by leaving a half eaten banana just lying in the basket for 2 days and still not one for fly in sight. Plus it's super cute and not to big or small. I wish I'd bought it months ago.

I like this enough that I bought another one used. The little handle at the top (the leaves) did break off pretty quickly on the used one, but was easily fixed with duct tape inside and outside. Fits in with my other duct tape decor.I need to keep fruit away from Mickey the Rat(s) and the cats and insects while also allowing for good circulation of air for fruit that can or should be stored out of the fridge (citrus, stone fruits, tomatoes, avocados, sweet bell peppers). Mickey hasn't succeeded yet in getting into it and he/she does like fruit. I left an apple unguarded for a while and came back to find Mickey had eaten half of it. Mickey is so wasteful. All the Mickeys are now on a birth control program (really, Senestech's rat contraceptives) which should also help.But all my food has to be securely locked down, so I can't just leave fruit out in an open bowl. The real test will be with the summer fruits, but I'm hopeful of continued success. I'll keep a small jar with a soap and vinegar solution nearby to inspire fruit flies to stay off the fruit also if that becomes a problem.So far, this device also does prevent mold growth pretty well. Recently forgot about a bell pepper for a week or so and it got wrinkly all over (a sign of aging when the air circulation is too good, doesn't affect edibility). I had never seen this before, just a little wrinkling in spots, and usually mold is the real problem. No sign of mold at all on bell peppers or oranges or grapefruits (which do mold on me in the fridge), so I'm happy.

Keeps the fruit fresh and keep bug away and I love the apple design!

I love this item!!! If I could give it a score of 10 out of 10 I would. I love fruit, this is my favorite season for eating fruit. Only problem is those darn pesky fruit flies. The second fruit comes into my house those little buggers try to get it. It drives me crazy this basket is priceless! I love it so much those nasty little bugs cannot touch my delicious juicy fruit.

Pretty & nice size, but I do not think it will last long. The cover sits on snug and I can not get it off with out pulling HARD on the stem (handle) As soon as I do, the entire plastic stem part falls off and apart in 3 pieces. I can get it back together but do not think this will last long as 1) I think every time I pull, the hole cut on top will ravel and 2) My frustration will result in it going in the trash. Hubby says he will look at it to try to come up with a solution. Meanwhile I threw away the basket I had for fruit (was falling apart) and I am using just the bottom of this on the table for fruit.

Cheaply made. Lid doesn't fit and when you do it easily cracks and bends. Mesh holes are too large for small fruit flies - other than it looks cute from afar, it doesn't perform well.
