Easy to make instant miso soup. No MSG or weird preservatives. Tastes great, add some scallions and it makes a good meal served with rice.

I first had Miso soup in a restaurant over 20 years ago and was quite taken but for some reason never really got around to adding it to my diet. I typically make my own soups, but thought it might be nice to have these packets on hand this past winter for when I "felt like soup" but didn't feel like going to the trouble of making it (like when you're sick and wish a Magic Soup Fairy would appear and hand you a steaming cup).The sodium, as per any Miso soup, is just way too high (for any healthy diet). I decided to double the water and in that way, make two portions I could have on different days. This made a nice, mild soup, like a flavorful broth. Just right. If you're used to "regular strength" Miso, it might take a little getting used to. I'm no seaweed aficionado, but thought it was kind of chewy. The tiny tofu was good.I bought the soup in Sept and wasn't too thrilled to see an early January expiration. So just before the end date rolled around I made all the remaining soup packets at once and froze 8 oz portions in freezer jars that I also previously purchased on Amazon. Love me some freezer jars. That worked out fine and I still have a few left in the freezer. I got the soup for under $6 and would purchase again if the price was low.

I'm not some sort of miso soup expert but I did some research and saw this was highly recommended. It tastes as close to Japanese restaurant miso (sometimes better depending on the place) as I could find. It's a little pricey, but it's amazing.
