Meaningful discussion of TAFL problems (and solutions) of the 1990s
The introduction, written by Mahmoud al-Batal, is well-written, an interesting look and overview of the the state of the TAFL profession and community before, during and possibly after the 1990s. Especially for those looking to get an introduction into the history of the problems that faced the 1990s TAFL community, each chapter presents a detailed analysis and discussion, often presenting solutions or reflections on these TAFL issues. Each chapter is written by a well-known, respected scholar, so the information each writer provides is quite meaningful and impacting. I found the book to be well-organized and easily accessible as well, even for someone who had known very little about TAFL in general. As one of the only few seemingly out there, the book is a great resource on the issues and solutions related to TAFL. I was definitely satisfied with what it has to offer.Highly recommended to those who are interested in TAFL, particularly for gaining a historical perspective of TAFL's issues during the 1990s, and for those aspiring to teach Arabic.
