I find anything smaller than 1/4" is harder for me to hang onto. It's important to teach your dog to walk on leash without pulling, or ANY sliplead or slipcollar will choke the dog. I'm a professional dog trainer and I always teach small dogs and puppies to walk on leash using a plain flat collar to start with. Once they learn to walk without pulling, then and only then will I introduce a slip lead. How? When the dog starts to pull, stop where you are. When pulling stops, continue walking.
