DK Eyewitness Thailand (Travel Guide)

Not enough practical information.
Just a list of sites in Thailand. I was looking for more detailed recommendations as to where to stay, almost no hotel descriptions or ratings. Limited guidance as to how to travel within Thailand. Few restaurant recommendations. Little guidance as to neighborhoods, i.e. whether they are safe or attractive or slummy, etc., all the things a traveler wants to know. I won't buy another DK travel guide again. And I did read it cover to cover.

Comprehensive guide to a fascinating country
Having previously been primarily a Lonely Planet fan, the DK Eyewitness books they have been publishing in the last few years have started to win me over. Gone are the childish drawings and in is good use of colour and plenty of photographs to keep you informed. This Thailand guide is one of their long format versions with plenty of detail. With the detail comes the length and size of the book, though it's not too big that I wouldn't consider packing it in a bag to take away with me. The book is divided into various sections, some of which will be useful prior to the trip - such as suggested itineraries while others more useful while you're on the ground - such as maps and details on key sights. The book is well laid out and has comprehensive coverage of the country including a number of places I hadn't heard of from my previous visits.Overall then if you're looking to get away to Thailand this is a pretty good companion to help you plan and enjoy the holiday.

Great book that is guaranteed to be your guide and companion.
Travel is a huge part of our lives, we love to explore via literature and agents prior to plotting our in inventory. This book was a fantastic aid in planning our trip to Thailand next year.Pros:-clear, concise, straight forward to follow-maps easy to locate and areas of significance highlighted in “must see” list-it explores significant features for that area - such as the shops, wildlife, restaurants or museums-inspiring illustrations-from a reputable publisher DK-£13.48 - great price!!Cons:-nilVerdict:Excellent book and aid, delivers on every level that it promises - ‘inspire, plans, discover, experience’. Will even be taking it with us on our travels, it’s small enough and a great reference to find a bit to eat en route!! Would absolutely recommend.

great travel guide
Despite most information being available online, I might be one of the rate people to actually still use travel guides as well. I've been to Thailand a couple of times in different areas but am planning another trip to go to more hidden gems rather than tourist areas. This travel guide is well laid out and structured. It contains lots of nice and bright photos and also includes detailed maps and walks which is an added bonus. Of course includes standard suggestions such as restaurants, shopping opportunities and best places to stay. It's not too big or heavy so can be put in your handbag or backpack when you're on the go.Great quality, pages are well printed, photos are bright and overall a really good travel guide.

Leaves the intrepid explorer with a thirst to learn more
Now that the world is opening back up, we have already planned some long distance hauls. Thailand is on our list and this eyewitness guide is certainly whetting our appetite for travel again.Maps and a brief history, culture and colourful photos adorn each and every page. However, for me the photos are somewhat muted. As Thailand is so vast, the suggested itineraries are brilliantly useful and gives the unknowing traveller hints and tips of where to go and what to explore. For example, I have never heard of Trang’s Andaman Islands where tourist development has barely been instigated - this looks like a most intriguing stop off. This guidebook definitely leaves you with a yearning to go and learn more.

Really good travel guide
Really good travel guide that packs in a lot of information, with quite a bit on places that are off the traditional tourist trail. Four stars.
