Easy to install; removing the old cylinder took a lot of hammering
This replaced the old leaking (slowly lost height) lift cylinder in my Herman Miller "Mirra" chair. You can find plenty of videos on youtube that detail how to get at the top of the cylinder (the Mirra takes a bit of disassembly with a T40 screwdriver) and also on how to remove the cylinder from the chair base. Yes, it involves a LOT of hammering, even with a 16oz hammer. I'm happy that I've done it as I found that my chair lowering over the course of a day or two ended up causing me weird pains as my working position shifted.

Decent Replacement for Stock Cylinder
UPDATE: As noted in my original review, right out of the box this had a little bit more give to it than the stock cylinder did. When you sit in it, it dips several inches. All cylinders do this - even new ones - but this one was more than you'd expect. Now, after only a month of using it, it sinks even more. Probably another 3/4". If it sinks any more it'll soon be at the level my stock one was when I started having thoughts of replacing it, and it's nearly at a level that, even when fully extended, is too low for me.At this point I've opted to replace it with an OEM part from an online distributor. This seemed like a good buy considering OEM replacement parts can often cost over $100+ with shipping, and this did seem like a very good one-to-one replacement for a stock/OEM cylinder, but it clearly isn't built to the same standards. For the record I am 240lbs, but this is supposed to be rated for 350lbs. Perhaps if you are a lighter individual you won't have the same issues.---This is nearly a one-to-one replacement for the stock cylinder of a 2013 Embody.Getting the old one off was a hassle, but once I did this one slipped right on. Works as expected. My only complaint is it does have a bit more give than a new cylinder should have. It dips an inch or two more than I'd like when sitting in it, despite being nowhere near the weight limit. Feels more like the stock one did after about 7 years of use. But given it was cheaper than most OEM replacement listings I've seen, it's a fair trade-off.

Works perfectly for the Herman Miller Embody Chair
Works perfectly for the Herman Miller Embody Chair. Used a pipe wrench and hammer to replace cylinder. No special tools were needed. Simple reassembly. Cable snapped back in place with no issues.

Wrong type
Not all Herman Miller are the same. Check carefully if you need a button type or lever type. Don’t turn the cylinder with a wrench until you verify that the cylinder is a button type, my HM Mirra uses a lever and requires significant disassembly prior to cylinder removal- unlike the dozens of tutorials that just twist the cylinder out. Hope this tip prevents you from destroying the mechanism attached to the cylinder.

Works like a charm
It was a nightmare taking the old one out but it perfectly fits 2011 Embody chair. Do your self a favor and order a ring removal tool.
