Dark Blue Rising

A gripping and fascinating read.
I couldn't put this down. Teri Terry is the master of suspense and I was hooked straight away - falling headlong into a twisty thriller. I can usually guess what's going to happen next - not in this book. Absolutely recommend.

Wonderful
As usual, Teri Terry has written an exciting, brilliant book, deserves a lot more than five stars.

Thoroughly enjoyable, wonderfully written, and with some of the best pacing I’ve come across…
This is so well-written, confident in prose and tone but ultimately, incredibly well-paced - meaning the suspense level throughout is just spot-on.Tabby (or Holly!) is a lovely drawn character and one you immediately take to as a reader. Unfortunately, through no fault of her own, she finds herself caught up in something she has no idea how to deal with. From losing those closest to her throughout the book, being told one thing- only to find out she has been misled (or has she?) and having to cope with a strong pull to the ocean, there is something special about Tabby that sets her apart from other girls her age. But, as the book draws to a close, neither she nor us as readers know exactly what that is. Yet, fortunately for us, there is a second book coming out in 2021!Dark Blue Rising was read by myself and my 11-year-old daughter, who is an accelerated reader. When it comes to YA books, they can be a hit or miss for her. Just because she’s advanced with her reading, doesn’t always mean she can cope with the subject of most YA books. However, one aspect I will commend Teri Terry for here is how accessible this book is. Nowhere is the subject matter or writing dumbed down, but neither is there any unnecessary profanity or typical attention-seeking and unnecessary love-sick/sexual-nature scenes.Instead, this is a book that is perfectly paced and allowed to simmer and build at just the right level throughout the entire story. With action from the very first page, there is an undertone throughout the book that something is not quite right – but, just as tabby can’t, neither can we as a reader put our finger on what that is.And, just when you think you’ve got the adult characters sussed; you then start to doubt their actions. This remains the way all through the book particularly concerning Cate, Simone, and Ali.The confidence in Teri’s writing style oozes throughout the pages and the structure holds up all the way through the story. It must have taken some lengthy planning beforehand because there’s so much going on. But, the premise never loses its thread once and the suspense never wanes. The chapters themselves are short and snappy and boost the drama, but they never drag or change direction entirely. Thus, you aren’t left disappointed at their shortness - rather they leave you with that feeling/thirst of ‘I just need to read one more…’We both thoroughly enjoyed reading this and will definitely be buying Red Sky Burning when it’s released.

An exciting story well told
I have never read any Teri Terry books before but have to say if they are all like this I have been missing a treat.I like the story and the main character Tabby is nicely written and quite believable. The story rolls along without many if any dead spots and kept me entertained throughout. I am probably a bit older than the actual target audience this being more for older children I guess around 12 or so but I think any age up from their might find it an enjoyable read. This is the first book in a series and I look forward to find out how Tabby deals with the situation she has found herself in and what is going on.BELOW IS A QUICK OUTLINE OF THE STORY DONT READ AS IT CONTAINS A FEW SPOILERSTabby lives with Cate her mother, finds Cate abducted her. Cate's arrested and Tabby goes to live with her real parents finds a love of swimming and goes to a swimming summer camp. There she finds others who seem to have had similar experiences to herself and some disturbing truths.

Hooked From The Very First Page
I love everything that Teri Terry has written to date so was delighted to get my hands and eyes on this brand new release. The story starts as a seemingly tale of reunion, Tabby is reunited with her rightful family after discovering she has been abducted as a young child. Everything you knows to be true is now not the truth and she finds it very hard to believe that this is not some giant mistake, are these really her birth parents, who was Cate really and why does Tabby have such strange thoughts and dreams? By the ending of this book I think I have a fair idea of what is or has happened to Tabby and I am hoping that the next book in the series will be published very soon as I want to continue to discover the truth about who and what Tabby/Holly might actually be.A brilliant read from start to finish, another triumph of a book by Teri Terry.
