Replaces corded tools.
I have had this set for more than a year now. I am a carpenter by trade and have been working commercially for going on 12 years. I bought this set after my tools were stolen in May 2021 and have not experienced any problems. This is the most powerful cordless set I have ever used. So much so that I had to read the directions to set the impact properly to stop burning out screw heads and #2 Phillip’s heads immediately. This cordless set is was clearly designed to eliminate the need for corded tools. They are heavy and if you are not twisting lag bolts, drilling through 1/4” steel, or making long rips with the saw, the weight and price is probably not for you. However, for those who have needed both battery and a corded version of these tools, I urge you to go with XGT. You’ll thank yourself when you no longer have to mess with 100 ft extension cords.

Best combo kit I've boughten so far.
I work in commercial framing, this is the perfect combo kit. Batteries last for days on the saw, and almost a full work week on the impact drill. The brushless motor is awesome. And the drill comes with features that are convenient.

Perfect gift
Loved that my husband dropped the hint about this & early birthday/Christmas gift ! He was like a kid Christmas morning opening that perfect gift. He absolutely loved and even brought to work to show off. Thank you 😊

Drill died on me after a month ...
The drill failed since the first time I used it but I thought it was some kind of brake in the drill but starting to fail very often until finally died Very disappointed....

strong heavy dirty
So, I was in need of a new drill kit. Went with this new line of tools and I'm not sure if I did the right choice.1) About the seller, check the return policy before you buy. And if those tools will have the full Makita warranty. I think my box was opened before and the drills were used. Not in a bag and both drills were a bit dirty. After buying, I checked the return policy (big mistake not checking that before) and they may charge restocking fees (what?!!) and the return shipping. God knows how much, all I could see was it would be discounted from my refund. No clear answer there on the exact value. The tools were good, I didn't notice any issue yet. That said, I didn't put them to use, just turned them on to check.2) About the kit. The hammer drill is strong, very strong, but heavy and huge. It weighed almost 1700 grams while my older drill (xph03) was around 650 grams. The chuck is made of metal and made in Japan (only that part) on this XGT. The speed is dialed on the button instead of on the chuck base like on the older model (xph03). I do prefer the older way, just faster to change. Buttons are cool, but it requires selecting a function to change the setting, a waste of time, not to mention the lock. You can probably mix wet mud/spackle with this. That's how strong this hammer drill is. But for long-lasting and lighter applications, weight can be an issue. The foot/base is huge on both drills. And the battery is much wider than the LXT ones. Definitely not the most compact and lightweight tools. The gain was more on the saw,, the larger tool. Same power as the double battery 36v and only one battery.3) Makita promised 50 tools at release. But this XGT line has only a hand -not- full of tools available in the US till now.

Not sure yet
I am a pro GC with 4 full time employees. We have dozens of the LXT tools and batteries. I pre-ordered this set to try out the new tools. The circular saw is truly as powerful as a corded saw (finally). We were using it on a metal job sawing ¼ inch thick aluminum 2x4 C channel over and over again with no problem. Not sure I really see the need for the impact though. It's just heavier and the extra power isn't really needed in that form. I think these XGT tools are going to really shine when it comes to the large impact SDS, etc.The bad news is both of the batteries quit working about a month after I deployed them onto the job. I have a dozen LXT batteries on that job for 4 months longer than those two XGT batteries and they are still out there performing a month later so I don't know what can explain that? I have not reported this to makita yet because I'm too busy working but I want to. I mention it here so if others have similar issues we can start to see a trend (if one exists).P. S. Who needs a 40v flashlight? Hey Makita, if you want us to start adopting this new system you need to offer us early adopters some sweet deals. I'm just not seeing it at this point. Sorry.

Awesome tools
The batteries charge fast and last long. Very good build quality and very good power output from these tools. Makita 40v is impressive.
