It Fits!!!
Like other reviewers stated here, it fits in a regular door, “Pet-Safe” opening! I unscrewed the old flap and removed the pins from plastic bracket, then attached screws to front, on outside I layered the 3 flaps onto the screws, and then my helper tightened the screws as I made sure each screw passed through to bracket strip, Then I tightened the nuts back on. I did have to buy longer screws and nuts because, my old flap only had 1/2 inch screws, I have no idea what model Pet-Safe door I have but this house is old (1932), and I think this pet door is probably at least 10 or 15 years old. The kitchen is warmer already. You definitely need a helper to hold bracket while you attach screws.

It fits in the regular door frame!
I already have the regular door, and I didn’t want to have to buy the extreme weather version. It looks good, but just so expensive! Thanks to the other reviews, I took a chance with these extreme door flaps. The current flaps blows opens when it’s windy outside. The new extreme flaps still do, but way less often. The new flaps are just two of the original flaps, plus a third puffy flap in the middle. To install these extreme flaps into the original door, all you need is a screwdriver and a nail (or maybe a pen would work). You will reuse the existing screws, so no need to go to the hardware store. Unscrew the original flap and discard, but save the screws and the back bracket. Use a nail to push the 4 pins from the extreme bracket. They are very easy to push out. Discard these pins and the gray bracket. Now you have 3 flaps. Just put these 3 flaps back where the original one was and screw them back in. Easy! Took me about 20 minutes. It would have been much faster if I had a helper to hold the back bracket. These 3 flaps together are much stiffer. I was worried my 25 lb dog would have problems going in and out. But no, he is able to use it fine. Note that only the inner flap will attach to the magnet in the frame. The other flaps are just outside. They don’t stick out too much.I’m very happy with these new flaps. I’m sure the entire extreme door would be better, but this is good enough for me.

Sort of weatherproof
The door is so thick the thing gets caught leaving a draft. Also so thick that the cats approach it like it’s a modern day guillotine.

Don't waste your money
We've had a Petsafe dog door for 4 years now. We have the extreme weather inside door & the regular Doogie door for our screen door. The flaps never closed tight so they let in lots of air, rain & for us mosquitoes. When the flaps don't close right you can feel all the air they are letting in because it feels like the furnace shut down. We just Upgraded to the PlexiDor Dog Door & it keeps all the cold air out. I just ordered new flaps for my Petsafe door & it split in half in one week. I decided I was tired of the flaps ripping & not closing all the way. With the cold weather the flaps freeze & when I put the cover on the inside it has frost on it as well. I like Petsafe products but this never was one of my favorites.

Not for the regular door, but...
This is more to be informative about the product for others in my situation. I saw this on sale and saw extreme weather and bought it, then set it aside for 5 months until I wanted to do it, only then seeing the sliding glass part, and it being way too late to return. I have the regular plastic extreme weather door, not sliding glass. As others have noticed, as did I before reading the reviews, you can push the pins out of the bracket and use it in a regular door, BUT two things about that...The pad in between the flaps does not have the holes in the same place. It's easy enough to line up your old one and drill new holes, which is what I did.The flaps are also a little different. They have the exact same part number, PAC11-11038 in my case for the medium, but the vinyl does not come all the way down to line up with the magnet. The magnet is a little bit higher, which you can kind of see in the product pictures, leaving a small air gap on either side of the magnet. This isn't a matter of install height, they just seem to be different on this door. The vinyl on the flaps purchased individually go all the way down (see screenshots).

Attached this to my normal pet door
Between this door and some basic gap insulation I installed, the difference is night and day. It used to be freezing around this sliding glass dog door in winter (I live in Colorado) and now you’d never know there’s a dog door there. I guarantee this will pay for itself twice over in one winter. I couldn’t be happier. And the other reviewer was right, you definitely don’t need to buy the over $300 cold weather dog door insert, this flap can be easily adapted to the regular panel like I did.

Great for colder climates
I live in South Dakota and have cold weather in the winter. I previously had a regular dog door and had to completely take it down last winter. This one will be much better for this coming cold season.

Skimping on the magnets
These are nice doors. Take a while to wear out. The weather set I’ve had has lasted about 4 years. The wind was starting to blow them open too frequently, so I thought it was time for new. These new ones fit using the old bracket system. They’ve changed things without my knowledge and I did not buy the whole door frame. But it worked with the old bracket. My complaint with the new doors is, in each flap, there are only two 3/4” magnets. The magnet is no longer across the entire bottom. Only in two spots then covered with a shield. Needless to say, I took them out and slid the old magnets on. Fit well. Just bummed that had to be done. The two small magnets just are not enough in this Oklahoma wind. We put Chicago to shame.
