These are man-sized brushes made of hardwood (handles) and horsehair (bristles). I have used professional quality brushes in the past and these brushes are equal to the very best at a fraction of the cost. The bristles do not fall out, even with strenuous brushing. It is impossible to find good quality shoe brushes locally. The ones Esquire make are made for child-size hands and they are expensive. These professional quality brushes put a shine on your shoes that you can see your self in. I cannot say enough good at these premium quality brushes, except, I am ordering more.

After reading all the negative reviews and some of the positive ones I decided to get this shoe brushes and decide for myself. First of all, they are exactly 8 inches as described and well compacted horse hair of a good height, for me this is a good size for my hands. The black brush is a little more stiff than the blond but I find it does a better job of polishing my shoes. I haven’t had any problem with the black brush shedding any hair and the blond brush only had a few loose hairs when I pulled from the bag, I polished my shoes and neither one has shed any hair, sorry to hear so many people had problems with this. I’m going to keep them and buy another set as I have four different color shoes, the value of these brushes is excellent compare to another brush worth 33 dollars, I’ not saying this brush is not worth the money but I’ll use it for my clothing instead. I’m giving it a four stars until I use them and see how they hold. Great brushes, great value.

I cannot attest to the durability, as I have just received these. However the quality seems extremely nice, and they are large enough to be efficient and easy to hold. I have found that with exceptional polish and brushing, my shoes look, feel and wear so much better. Take care of them often and you will be rewarded with shine and ease of care. Just a quick brush with these nice brushes after a wearing and they look as though I just polished them. A+++
