They tune, and then stay there
I actually have 2 sets of these, 1 six on side and one 3x3. The first set Ive had for over 10 years. The locking setup works great but I never remember the order to do it in so I generally string up the same way as all my other guitars (first wrap over the top and the rest under). They feel perfect turning, even after years of heavy use, and they hold perfectly even without locking the string in.These do exactly what they are supposed to and have held up to my tomfoolery so your getting exactly what you need and at a reasonable price.

Excellent tuners at a bargain price
The finish and smooth action of these very precisely machined tuners rival their German counterparts at a much more reasonable price. I am thrilled with this purchase, and so far I have been with every Wilkinson part I've bought for my guitars. Try their alnico V open coil humbuckers if you'd like vintage tone at a deep discount. I took one star off the advertised "locking" feature because the tuners do not actually lock the strings. Basically there are two holes drilled in each post, and you take the string through the first hole, bend a 90 deg angle, do one wrap, then through the second hole, with another 90 deg bend. Very stable, and a great idea, but not actually locking in the mechanical sense. At this price? Not a deal breaker for me!

Not a true locking tuner, but still one great bargain
I have built a lot of guitars with these, and I like them a lot for the money. Nice and tight, 16:1, always repeatable, but that double hole system in the string shaft is NOT a true lock. It simply has you put the string through two holes instead of one, and creates more resistance keeping the string from slipping on the shaft. Does it work? Yes. Is it a true lock, with a wheel on the back that will lock the gears? NO.But for the money, these are great tuners. I like them better than most Grovers or Pings

Quality tuners at a good price, but...
Quality is more than what I was expecting, for the price. The mechanism is very precise, tight and no play, either back or forward and the the post is also very tight. I have seen pricier tuners in the past where I had 1 or 2 with somewhat of as loose post that was causing issues when operating. In all, a very good buy.Be careful with one thing: the string holes in the post are not big enough, so for users who like 52 strings and up they may not fit in the hole. I use TI Jazz Swing 10-43 and because of the silk end of the 43 it would not fit in the hole. I had to enlarge the hole with a needle file and polish. Otherwise a very good buy.
