This scale works great for the purposes I use it for and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for similar uses. However, be advised that the scale is not waterproof so fishermen may want to purchase with caution or consider other alternatives.I bought this for weighing backpacks and backpacking gear. It works quite well. The plastic housing seems plenty sturdy and seems to be better quality than any other scale I considered. There was no manual or instructions included in the packaging, but the scale is fairly straightforward to use.One minor complaint is that the available units of measurement settings are too limited. The readout displays decimal-pounds or ounces, but not pounds plus ounces. Metric KG can't be modified-- metric weight can only be shown in KG units with decimals to the one-hundredth. That's not really a big deal though. The seller's description states that it can measure temperature in Celsius which I didn't know, even after using the scale extensively. I'll have to get the scale out again and try to figure out how to use it as a thermometer, but that feature isn't obvious in my use of the scale, and there is no manual or other instructions included.One quirk the scale seems to have is that when taking measurements in moderately quick succession, if two different items are of nearly the exact same weight, or if I weigh and immediately reweigh an item to double check the reading, the scale seems to recall the first reading even if one might reasonably expect to see a minor variation between readings. This leads me to think that the last reading is stored in memory for slightly longer than it's displayed. If I wait longer between weighing and then reweighing an item, the scale can produce the slightly different readings I expect when weighing items in units as small as one gram with a consumer grade scale at this price.

I got mine for weighing guitars, but have used it for other odd weighing jobs. The included luggage strap is handy for looping around the machine heads when weighing guitars, and offers utility for weighing other objects where the hook might not be the best way to hang them. I can't comment on absolute accuracy.

Uncle used it twice in first week on two salmon. One at 9.8 and the other at 22.3. He loves it and no longer uses a human stand-on scale to weigh his fish.

Bought this guy to keep track of my pack weight for my thru hike of the PCT next year. Easy to use, accurate and doesn't cost very much at all. Good buy.

Just what I expected - I hope it lasts as long and I expect it to. I'm glad I took the time to look through all of the available scales and options on them. This one seemed to be the most versatile.

The scale did not work straight out of the box. It worked up to about 2 pounds, then immediately jumped to 77 pounds, at which time, the more weight you put on the scale, the less it read. Does not work at all.

I can now have the purfect wejght in all my traveling now.
