Cuisinart CB-30P1 Cast-Iron Single Burner, Stainless Steel
What can I say? It's a Cuisinart! Yes, I am sold on Cuisinart products! They have not failed me yet! (I've had my blender/food processor/chopper since 1990, and it is still going strong!) I needed a 2nd table-top burner. When I saw this one, (even though I could have gotten a cheaper one) , I knew this would be the better purchase. I have bought Cuisinart products in the past and have been very pleased with my purchases. The quality and performance alone is worth it to me! This burner has a normal weight, not too heavy, it is as described. 😁 It's definitely worth every cent! The only draw back is that I got the chrome top, instead of black. Chrome (for me) is harder to keep clean than the black. 😁. That was my mistake, not the fault of Cuisinart. 😁 It does clean up well, it just takes a little more work. 😁. It is not a self shut off unit, that I am aware of. However, whenever I cook anything, and it's about done, I will TURN OFF the burner 5-10 minutes before the food is done. Yes, it takes that much time to cool down. I use this almost every day. It is a whole lot easier to clean up than my ceramic top stove, and I think it uses less electric (110 amps) instead of my Ceramic top electric stove (220 amps). And this burner take LESS time to heat up than my ceramic top stove. The cooking is more efficient, too, in terms of say, chicken n Noodles. I can not make this dish on my ceramic top, as it fluctuates in temperature, trying to maintain an even temp. It is that "shut down" time, (temp fluctuating) that causes my noodles to become tough, instead of fluffy. This Cuisinart table top burner maintains the temp (like a coil burner) and my noodles come out perfect!) 😅 I am thinking about getting a 2nd one. Sometimes I need 2. I had another brand (for about 6 mos. before it died. 😞. Another well known name, but the product did not hold up. I am definitely buying another Cuisinart table top burner!

Nice well-built cooking burners that get the job done fast!
My range finally gave up and I'm not ready to chose a new one yet, so I researched single burners to get through the summer since everything pretty much gets cooked on the Blackstone anyway. I chose this burner because of how well designed and built it seemed to be. I'm happy to say that it's fabulous. I ordered two, but one was obviously used, so sent it back and Amazon exchanged it at no cost to me. I don't put up with receiving used products when I've paid for new. The second burner was new and perfect and works just as nicely as the first one. If water drips on the burner, don't leave it. You need to wipe it down asap because it's cast iron and will rust. Don't touch when hot though because it gets super hot, super fast. Way faster than the burners on my stove ever did. The burners take also quite a while to cool down again for the same reason, they're cast iron and hold on to the heat, which is nice for keeping things warm. Rust might be a problem in a humid climate and I probably wouldn't use them around little kids who can't be trusted to leave them alone because that's just an accident waiting to happen. Other than those two things, I think these burners are just about perfect. We've cooked several times with them and so far, so good. Love them and would highly recommend them for use in the appropriate circumstances.

Consistent temperature, solid build quality
Love it. It does heat up a little slower but the heating element is solid and consistent. The green light alerts you that it’s ready. It also tries to regulate the heat consistency so you don’t have to guess temperatures. I’ve used it everyday since purchasing. The form factor is a small 11” square footprint. It fits a 4 quart stock pot perfectly.

Decent; good longevity, but slow for boiling as others noted
Quick snapshot: ++ Durable and long-lasting ++ Very portable + Easy cleaning -- Slow to boil more than 24oz of water :( - Once it has been on you should not move it without oven mitts on as the sides get too warm to handle +/- Initial heatup process produces an odour - you may want to do this outside somewhere a child or animal can't accidentally touch it In-depth review: Bought it pre-pandemic when our home was being demolished and replaced with a prefab, the whole family was living in a garage together for the few weeks it took. This thing was used every single day for about an hour and it performed excellently. Then, once the virus hit but before we had access to the now widely available rapid tests, I wanted to sequester myself to try to protect my family after I was exposed. I used this hotplate inside the guest bedroom so I did not need to leave the room or ask others to cook for me. (photo attached of the isolation set up) I've had the hotplate for a total of 3 years now and it has never had an issue. After the break-in heating the manual tells you to do, I never had it smoke without cause or get too hot in inappropriate areas (like the heat control knob) that others experienced. Definitely set it where you want it for the whole cook time - once it has been running for more than 5 mins on high I would recommend never attempting to move it without oven mitts on because the sides become too hot to comfortably touch. With how thin and compact this is I'm not surprised and don't consider this unreasonable but it may matter to someone else. It has never damaged any surface it has been set on so although I can't handle it barehanded it is not so hot as to harm plastics or wood. As other reviewers noted, it can be extremely slow to boil larger pots of water - to me this is the number one downside. For pasta with around 24oz of water it would boil around 7-12 minutes, but if you needed a higher water level, say closer to a half gallon's worth, it would be 25-30 minutes before the pot boiled. A final note for those who do decide to buy this - when you first purchase it I highly recommend doing the initial warm-up run outside (though somewhere a child or pet would not touch it!) or in a well-ventilated garage; I'm not sure if I recall correctly, it may have been to get an anti-rust shipping coating of oil off the cast iron surface? The instruction manual was quite clear, it's just been three years since I did it. Boy did it have an odour during that first run, but never again after that.

I cook a lot and this is perfect!
I just used it for the first time and I'm really pleased. I cook a lot and my gas stovetop just broke, so I needed something that would work in my RV. I read many reviews and did research before deciding on this one. I got the cast iron burner knowing that cast iron gets hot and holds heat well and it did exactly that. First, I tested it with hot water turned on high and it started to boil as quickly as my stove would. Then I made Reubens and the bread toasted nicely when I turned it up to 4 and 3 had been high enough to make it warm on the inside first. I am very pleased with this.

Easy dependable countertop burner. Company trustworthy
I love this burner. Rarely do I use my traditional stove to cook. Why? This burner even on the min setting i get a full boil. Cooking is even. Size is plenty and sturdy. I have not cooked for a large fsmily but this is an easy fix and cheaper than running my traditional stove. I settled on Cuisinart because of my life experience that it is a good solid company to trust. No noise. Temp control steady. Installation a breeze. Read instructions. Clean as recommended. Heats up quickly.

Not 1300 Watts - Only 900 Watts - Safe (but Ineffective as a Cooking Tool)
I just got mine, and I expected 1300 watts. Mine heated up to just over 1000 watts, then when it reached heat, a cut-off was activated and turned off the heating element. It takes 15 minutes to boil 1 pint of water. My 800 watt burner can do the same thing! The reason I sought out a higher wattage item was to boil my water in a few minutes and this is just not acceptable. I'm returning it. Also, although the initial run, the unit drew 1100 watts, after a few minutes it dropped down and failed to draw over 1000 watts. This combined with the governor feature (which just shut off the heat entirely) made it extremely tedious to boil just a tiny pint of water, which should only take five minutes in my opinion. Fifteen minutes is just not acceptable. The unit relies on the stored heat of the cast iron plate, which stores the heat and allows the element to "rest." However, it's not powerful enough to boil a pint of water in less than fifteen minutes and that's not what I'm interested in. After the initial run, the unit only consumed between 850-950 watts. The cycling feature really limited the maximum heat. I'm guessing this is a safety feature, but it also made it very tedious to boil only a small amount of water. I used a 'Kill-a-Watt' device to test the power consumption: P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor By the way, I also purchased the 'cusimax CMIP-B120' at the same time, which is rated at 1200 watts. Although it too, only drew 1050 watts, the element stayed on (at the highest setting). There was no governor to cycle the heat at the high setting and it boiled my pot in only 6:30, which was half the time of the Cuisinart CB-30. Warranty is 18 months (versus three years). Cusimax Portable Electric Stove, 1200W Infrared Single Burner Heat-up In Seconds, 7 Inch Ceramic Glass Single Hot Plate Cooktop for Dorm Office Home Camp, Compatible w/All Cookware - Upgraded Version This is a ceramic glass surface which looks very sleek and clean, but it's harder to maintain. For a portable hot plate the ceramic surface is not as practical, if you're going to be dragging it around, since it's so elegant. If I had to purchase again, I'd get the cast iron version which is 1500 watts and with the cast iron is very similar to the Cuisinart CB-30: Cusimax Electric Hot Plate for Cooking Portable Single Burner 1500W Cast Iron hot plates Heat-up in Seconds Adjustable Temperature Control Stainless Steel Non-Slip Rubber Feet Upgraded Version B101 Hope this helps. בס״ד

Good but not great for everything
This is a good hotplate with reasonable power. I bought this for pressure canning because my stove controls are behind the large pot whereas this unit's control is in the front. It does the job but due to lower wattage takes exponentially longer to reach pressure. The control is very good once at pressure because the cast iron burner is slow to lose heat, however the overall added time was just too much and I went back to the stove for pressure canning. This unit is still great for general purpose cooking. Something to consider is the cast iron burner takes a very long time to cool down and the overall unit gets quite warm so it may take a while to be safely transported after use in a "portable" setting.

It is a Good Product
I got this because sometimes I do not want to use gas. Great little product. It heats up fairly fast and does everything it promised. High temperature is just that - high! Accurate indicator. I rarely use it at a 5(its hottest) 2 or 3 is sufficient. I have to get used to the fact that, unlike gas, takes a little time to heat up and once heated up it takes a long time too cool. It looks good and is easy to clean.

Easy to clean, not hot enough for browning meat
Heats up quick and easy to clean, but doesn't get nearly as hot as a coil style burner. Great for things like soups, but not great for browning meat.
