Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Frizz Control Sculpting Gel & Defining Cream

I really like this curl cream! It helps control frizz while keeping my curls soft, defined, and natural-looking without making my hair feel heavy or sticky. It’s easy to apply and gives my curls a nice, smooth finish. Definitely a great addition to my hair routine!

Excellent!! My only regret is not getting this set sooner. I have fine, thin, curly (type 2c-3a) hair which gets weighed down by products very easily. My scalp is naturally oily as well, so build up always exacerbates that. I haven't had these problems with the NYM Curl Talk Gel and Curl Cream. My hair stays voluminous and soft for up to 3 days, but I usually wash it on the 2nd. I initially bought this set just for the gel, but I've come to appreciate the curl cream as well. The scent of both products is mild, slightly sweet but not sugary. Kind of floral but definitely not overbearing. Its a soft scent. Neither product dries out my ends, particularly the gel, which is a problem I was having with another very popular brand of gel (starts with an "E".) Additionally, the gel isn't sticky or too thick so its easy to apply, and it holds my curls beautifully. It adds shine and definition without heaviness on my strands. The curls don't loosen until about the third day, and even then its easy to refresh them with a spray bottle. The curl cream has a soft hold but still defines my curls and adds shine to my hair without making it feel greasy or weighed down. The product has nice slip as well. Totally recommend.

Been using this product for a couple of years and I love it. Keeps my hair curly and it doesn’t leave curls clumpy. Smells good too!

It was good, effective and non-greasy

this didn’t disappoint! after brushing my hair while it’s wet after the shower, i put the cream in and scrunch and then put the gel after and scrunch making sure all hair is covered in both. i personally let my hair air dry and it comes out great! my curls are very “boingy” and the gel makes them quite tight if you like that look. The gel doesn’t make it too crunchy or hard though which is also nice.

I have moderately curly hair—definitely more curly than wavy—but it is also thin, extremely frizzy, and high porosity. And when summer humidity arrives, my hair transforms into what I affectionately call my White Woman’s Afro. 😂 My hair is so big and wild that people who know me can literally spot me from half a mile away. It is my calling card. If you don’t see me, just look for the enormous cloud of hair coming down the street. 🌪️😂 I have spent YEARS searching for my Holy Grail hair product. My bathroom contains what can only be described as a curl-product graveyard: curl creams, mousses, gels, glazes, leave-in conditioners, bond builders, conditioners, shampoos, shampoo bars…you name it. I have apparently made it my life’s mission to purchase every product ever created for curly hair. So when I saw Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Cream & Gel on social media, I thought, “Sure. Why not add two more products to the graveyard?” 😂 Honestly, I had ZERO high hopes. And then the universe played a very funny little trick on me. MY HAIR LOOKED REALLY GOOD. I had defined curls, noticeably less frizz, and—most shocking of all—NO GIANT FRIZZ HALO. This is a significant development in my life. Then came Day Two. Usually, Day Two is when my hair starts staging a rebellion. Instead, I actually had more volume, defined curls, AND STILL NO FRIZZ. I was beginning to suspect I had accidentally stumbled onto something. I can typically get about four days out of this product without needing to refresh my hair. At night, I put my hair into a very loose bun and pin it up on top of my head. In the morning, I take it down, shake it out, and I’m basically ready to go. And a silk pillowcase is absolutely essential if you have frizzy, curly, unruly hair like mine. Your hair will thank you. So after a lifetime of searching, experimenting, buying, regretting, and contributing to the Great Curl Product Graveyard of America… I MAY HAVE FOUND MY HOLY GRAIL. 🙌😂 Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk gets a 10/10 from my giant, unruly, humidity-sensitive cloud of hair. If your hair is curly, frizzy, unruly, or has the potential to become its own weather system, give this a try. It might just become your Holy Grail too. My hair has finally stopped trying to escape my head. We are all very relieved. 😂

Personally, I am sensitive to smell and this is a product I would love to keep trying but I do not enjoy the scent. I have used it multiple times and it works OK, I think it’s after effect is crunchy, the weight is a bit heavy and I will be trying something else.

I have fine, maybe curly hair and it’s very dense. This was my introduction to styling routines and these are still my go to. No weird stickiness or crunch, good definition, softness and manageability for days, plus the fragrance is soft so it doesn’t bother me. The definition isn’t super crazy compared to other products. However, if you just want to apply the product and let your hair naturally dry, the results are genuinely great.
