Not You It's Me (A Boston Love Story Book 1)

Don't read it if you're not liberal!
This author tucked her liberal agenda into the plot-- from Donald Trump insults to calling a newborn baby a "fetus." Why not just write a good story without the subversive BS?

Couldn’t even finish it
I wish the description would have indicated that the book was written in a single POV. It is disappointing to have what is supposed to be an intense alpha male character and never see inside his head. We see no justification for the fact he treats the ‘gorgeous but had stupid boyfriends’ female with such devotion almost from the start. The book rambles from the females POV and bogs down all over the place. I started skimming for anything interesting by about the third chapter and gave up by chapter 8. I read all the way to 25, but couldn’t force myself to read more. At 382 pages, this book is about 250 pages too long. There is nothing sexy or sweet about the plot. The one sexual encounter that occurs in the first chapter is covered in half a page. Don’t waster your time.

ugh. DNF. (And it started so well, sigh.)
DNF at 20%:At 19% in, I begin this review with a series of, I suppose they're warnings. It started well, I was enjoying it. But it's getting unbearable. I can tell I won't finish reading it.1) This is in the kind of first person present tense that makes people hate that choice in novels. I roll my eyes as I protest, 'no one narrates their life like that, Julie.'2) Even this early in, our MC, the heroine, has already declared no fewer than three times that she doesn't have the mental and physical reactions to men (or women, I assume) that others seem to. Insta-interest in the hero is shocking. Okay. Okay... OKAY I GET IT. I don't identify with it at all (it makes me think she ought to be something supernatural, TBH), probably because the interest for just the hero takes the monogamous theme to an extreme I can't identify with.3) I'm really done with the gorgeous billionaire trope.4) There are some not so nice bits; heroine disses sex workers. The horrible ex is overweight as well as horrible.5) At 21% in, the heroine's thinking about her 'humans as art' theory (in the annoying narrator way), and I... ugh. It's just terrible. She's supposed to be an artist, a painter, yet doesn't base her theory on techniques but rather mediums. It makes no sense to anyone who knows anything about art.6) Barely into chapter 11 (of 33) I'm bailing. MC equates attraction with weakness. That's it. I'm out.

After a Rough Start, I Loved This Book!
When I first started reading this book, I wasn't sure if I was going to finish it or not. I'm glad I persevered, because it turned out to be really good.Gemma Summers won 2 free center court tickets to a Boston Celtics game. She offers one of the tickets to the man who is currently her "boyfriend" (and I use that term VERY loosely). She's not much of a sports fan and dresses totally inappropriately for the game and Ralph, her boyfriend, spends all of his time there on his cell, facing away from her. Nevertheless, she's determined she's going to have fun and jumps up and down cheering (sometimes for the wrong team) is her black cocktail dress and flat Converse tennis shoes.Unknown to her, the ridiculously handsome man next to her, Chase Croft, is a billionaire and the owner of the team and is getting a kick out of watching her enjoyment of the game. But when the kiss camera points to her, she can't get her boyfriend off the phone to kiss her and tries to just shrug it off in an embarrassed fashion. That's when the man next to her stands up, takes her in his arms and leans her over backward as he plants a long and intense kiss, with tongue even, on her. It's the best kiss of her life and it's all on camera. But then her boyfriend finally gets off the phone and starts tearing into her and admitting that he's been cheating on her.Gemma runs away from the basketball stadium and is later picked up by Chase as he comes across her walking in the rain. She is really attracted to him, but not because he obviously has money, and he is attracted to her. But he refuses to date her and she is trying to figure out why. By the way, Gemma is a knockout who doesn't realize it! She has no faith in men and thinks most of them are rat bast**ds. Chase is going to have his work cut out for him if he's going to try to convince her otherwise. There were numerous twists and turns in the plot and an especially intense climax to the book that I won't share and thus spoil the book for you. I highly recommend this book, as it's great reading. There were very few missing or incorrect words, which in and of itself, was a great worth. I'll definitely be looking for more books by Julie Johnson!

Swoon..New favourite book boyfriend
I have to say I was in two minds whether to read this and I'm not really sure why because I have enjoyed this author's bothered books ..but I did and wow I am so glad I did. Julie Johnson has just rocketed to the top as one of my favourite authors. I found myself so invested in the story,so many laugh out loud moments even in serious situations and chase wow just wow, he has to be one of my all time favourite book boyfriends!! I can't even pick out one thing I didn't like and not a mistake in sight either. I don't want to go into the ins and outs of the story as lots of people will already have done this,so all I will say is buy this book people, you won't regret it! I'm off to buy cross the line now and hopefully it's as good if not better than this book..gonna be tough to beat though. Oh one more thing, well done Julie Johnson, another fab book under your belt.

Fabulous!!!!
Just finished reading "Its me not you", and I just loved it. I started it this morning and I'm afraid no housework has been done today as I got sucked right in and just kept going. I love that feeling when you don't care what's going on because you are so into a fabulously told story that everything else can wait!!! This is the case with this hilariously written and yet wonderfully real accountant of Gemma and Chase meeting and falling in love despite themselves. Gemma is such a wonderfully independent straight talking heroine that you are fighting for her the whole way. She has spent her whole adult life avoiding emotional involvement with men until she meets Chase who just breaks through her defences before she know better. And by then it's too late. Her friends are hilarious too. They are what every girl needs in her life. Some honest, funny friends who really know you and are there for you no matter what. Always the sign of a good book when you have withdrawal when you've finished it!!! Might just have to have some chocolate cupcakes to keep me going!!!!

What a great read!
I picked this up as a freebie, with no expectations of getting beyond page 5. I was gripped from the second page. The descriptions and self deprecating humour was so entertaining, and the dialogue between Gemma and Chase raised this book to special. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who likes a funny, scary in places fairy tale. I stayed up to the wee small hours to finish it in one go.

Fun read
Boy meets girl by chance at a game and kiss for the kisscam. One thing leads to another and they fall for each other. Then the crazy begins kidnapping, famous dad, crazy ex's the list goes on but worth a read.

Ok in a way.
This book started out well. It was an ok read in a way. The narrative was a bit rambling, Gemma was way too childish for my liking and Chase was too overbearing. The suspense was ok.
