It's enormous and exhaustive
I thought it was just hype when the publisher described this third edition as being as large as the first two together, but it's actually slightly larger: 310 (first edition) + 432 (second edition) < 784 (third edition). It's enormous. And fascinating. There's more and more of the new material -- it covers through year six of the current series -- and it's fascinating to see Amy and Rory Pond's entries amidst Ace, Benny, Adric, and the like.I'm delighted. Understand that I'm someone who's a fan from Tom Baker's fourth Doctor, and who's enjoyed what he's seen of earlier years, but I think I can sympathize with someone who comes in knowing "just" the current series because there's so much more in here than the TV stories. There are novels (I've read quite a few, but most were years ago), audio programs (I've heard one or two), and comic strips (my knowledge ends back with the seventh Doctor), and thankfully each entry is footnoted with its source so that I feel OKAY with not knowing the story. It's just a glimpse at a larger universe, and a guide of where I might want to explore next. The best part, in my opinion, is skimming through the footnotes. Many are brief, just the title of a story with a note of whether it's from TV, novel, comic strip, etc. Some, though, are longer, and quite a few of those form essays examining different ways continuity has diverged over fifty years of history.Highly recommended!

The Times of the Doctor
I owned the first edition of this book. I loved it. With the series return this book does a splendid job of helping me answer sticky questions of the which Doctor was where when? (Such as the episodes the Doctor Dances & Victory of the Dalaks.) It is also a very entertaining read with the footnotes. This book is now a pride & joy of my collection which I recomend for any serious Doctor Who fan.

AHistory
So, the third incarnation takes us from the Classic Series and the New Televised Series (up to The Last of the Time Lords) and creates a timeline based on those and the Novels and the Comic Strips, which is absolutely fantastic. It allows for a lot of detail while not overwhelming the reader with trivial matters. A must read for all Who fans!

Massive!!!!
For me, this is one of those books you can't simply sit down and start reading from beginning to end... though I intend to one day! For now, I'm enjoying looking up random characters and situations and finding interesting insights I might not otherwise have had. Highly recommended... but be warned, it's over 700 pages and packed with small print! (lol)

Just in Time
Consider all the Doctor Who stories, from audio to book to television in one volume. Thus, you get this book. While it is rather long and more for the Who enthusiast, fans of the New Series will be impressed along with the older Whovians.

A Task Worthy of A Time Lord
This book tries to do the impossible - and to an extent succeeds, trying to tie together and reconcile all the different strands of Doctor Who - the TV series, the various novels issued down the years, the Big Finish audio dramas and the comic strips (mainly those published in the Doctor Who Magazine). The big asset with this tome is that as new bits of Who lore emerge the authors aren't afraid of amending their viewpoint/theories from the previous editions of this book. And as to that bug-bear of the UNIT era dating that's kept as separate section within the series chronology - i.e. anytime between the year of broadcast (1968 to 1975) and being set from mid 70's to the mid 80's.A worthwhile investment for anyone who's interested in the wonderful world of Who like myself who's been with the show since the 60's, and for anyone who comes to it more recent times via David Tennant and Matt Smith. Seriously recommended!

Excellent piece of work
This book is truly an excellent Doctor Who factual book. I love seeing how everything fits together in the Doctor Who Universe - and if you like this too, I would highly recommend this book by Lance Parkin. In this the Second (or really Third) edition of his book, he includes the important comics, the TV series up to the 10th Doctor's 2007 season, BF audios and novels. He's very articulate at explaining certain anomalies and also explaining why he's placed stories in a particular time. He also tries to tackle the questions of UNIT dating and other problems, and has very good answers for them. Please do read this excellent book and enjoy being part of the massive, wonderful universe of Doctor Who....

A very extensive source of information about the Whoniverse
This book is an essential item for every Who fan's library. It's a very hefty book with a whole timeline of the show and the Doctor's adventures. The televised adventures are written in bold font and non televised adventures in standard font so it's very easy to choose which canon to read. A book to read cover to cover or dip into however you choose. Fantastic!!

The essential work on Doctor Who's torturous continuity
A book that charts the adventures of dozens of heroes through over 1400 stories, from the beginning of time itself, right through the end of the Universe and out the other side... it's not for the faint hearted. Christ, even the contents list is twenty pages long. It's a mammoth endeavour, showing real love for Doctor Who and the works it has inspired, and any true obsessive will surely love it.
