Excellent emotional but uplifting book
This book was excellent! It has quite a bit of angst due to both main characters having baggage. But it all makes sense and fit the characters. It wasn't too overwhelming. The writing is excellent and the book is virtually error-free, so rare these days! I did have to reread a few sentences where it seemed like the POV changed. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't and it was just me. The whole book was just totally satisfying. I just want to hang out in Josie's bar! I'm a dog person and not a cat person, but the kittens were just so cute! I am not fond of third act breakups, but this one, while not fun, made sense for the characters. I just wish there was a sequel. There IS a sequel of sorts, book 3 in the series, but I gather that these characters aren't the main characters in that book. I hope we still get to see them quite a bit together.

Exactly what I needed
I have been reading a lot of just so-so books recently. I wasn't sure if it was because of the quality of books or if maybe my head has been in a funny space as a result of quarantine during this pandemic. After reading this, I have to assume it was the books I was reading. Because this one had me hooked and invested. It was one of those where it is really inconvenient when you have to do things like sleep, eat, or log into work.Eve owns her own marketing company and also has a television show that focuses on saving businesses from going under. She learns that her ratings are not where they should be and she is in jeopardy of not getting a third season. On the way home one night, she finds some abandoned newborn kittens.Josie rescues pets and does animal related YouTube videos. She gets a call from Eve asking her to take the kittens but she can't do it because she is working night and day at a bar she inherited. She gives Eve tips on how to get them through the night and promises to try and find someone who can take them in.What follows is a beautiful story of two women tainted with sadness who find a bit of contentedness in each other's company. And despite their attempts at casual, the intensity of their attraction and depth of their connection, creates something bigger than they ever could have anticipated. The characters were rich with unique personalities and backstory. I loved both Eve and Josie for all of their endearing qualities and heartbreaking faults. Eve was a sexy, petite, impenetrable business woman throwing herself into work to avoid her own thoughts and memories. Josie was a quirky, full-of-life, altruistic gal working herself into the ground out of obligation. There is something so satisfying in witnessing someone's walls crumbling despite all of their attempts at resisting.I could find no faults in this. It was a deeply moving love story.I recommend this to anyone who loves to read about romance, reality television, bars, strong chemistry, meaningful history, striving for success, and Broadway kittens.

The title was a lie.
Like the subject says, the title of the book was a total lie.I did cry for them, and I didn't have even a little choice in the matter.

A journey of pain …
Watching Josie and Eve traverse their careers, lives, and loves was a gift. A remarkable piece about two women who endured the profound pain of loss, and chose to move forward. Loved the remodel to create Dragonfly and Eve’s gift to Josie as a sweet reminder of her family’s bar and history. I especially loved the kitten rescue and the “theatre” kittens. Secondary characters were strong and relatable. A very good read. I heartily and enthusiastically recommend this and all of Rachel Lacey’s works. Thank you Peace

Lost ladies loving
Two women with some strong loss in their pasts find each other, it's a great idea and that's why it's a classic.Good characters, lots of fun bar-running details and an interesting gimmick in the renovation TV show, great sex scenes that actually use words other than "core" or "sex" (not that there's actually anything wrong with that), and of course great kitten content.

Just loved it!
This is my first book from Ms. Lacey, but it won't be my last. Filled with great writing and storytelling, I really didn't want the book to end. Eve is a marketing guru and tv host who helps businesses from going under. One night she finds a bag of newborn kittens in the trash near her home. Having no prior experience, she calls Josie who runs a pet rescue and does animal related YouTube videos to see if she can drop off the kittens. Josie can't take them because she just inherited a bar from her dad and she's working non-stop trying to keep it from going under. Well, the two meet and the story is beautiful.I really liked both characters who had suffered a great deal of loss in their pasts. It's a slow burning story of two people who found real contentment with each other, no matter how they tried to keep their relationship casual. The friendships of Adam and Kaia added so much support and fun to the story. And the litter of kittens? Well, they opened up Eve's soul and helped her make room for Josie in her heart! I loved it!

WoW ! Surprisingly FANTASTIC
It opens in a somewhat ordinary way, and hearts ignite in the usual way but the fireworks that follow are simply fantastic. I laughed, I smirked, and I cried a lot. This story will draw you in and unravel you in the most wonderful and raw "true feels" kinda way. Thank you Rachel.

Finally! One worth finishing!
I read many more books than I review. I don't like to criticize books that don't meet 'my' criteria for being a good read because they are some other writer's labour of love, and also because someone else may enjoy reading what I don't. Lately, despite doing due diligence to 'Look Inside' books before buying, I have not had much luck. Books that looked like they'd work, turn out not to -- for me, at least. I must confess, the 'Did Not Finish' folder in my Kindle reader is the fattest one of all. Romances are my favourite genre, but I'm finding it difficult to find stories that work from start to finish. Don't Cry for Me started strong and didn't flag or go wonky partway through. Finally. Thank you.
