Gritty, catchy and certainly nostalgic
If you were impressed by what the likes of Title Fight, Make Do and Mend and Basement have been putting out, don't pass on this one. Daylight's sole album under their original alias is twelve songs of catchy pop tunes with distorted guitars that have been heavily influenced in various 90's scenes of the time. While it may sound a tad bit similar to what Nirvana, Seaweed and even Weezer were known for in the time, it spans a heavy range throughout their songs, each with its own distinct sound. For example, "Life in a Jar" comes off as a loud, filthy rocker, while "In On It" is a power pop tune that is also dirty; think Blue Album-era Weezer if they haven't showered for days. It's an excellent album from a band that may not be the most subtle with their influences, but they are still writing the best songs in their league. The band has since changed their name to Superheaven due to legal issues, but the album has since been re-issued under their new moniker. Whichever release you get your hands on, you're still in for a treat.

Excellent
This is an early contender for the best album of 2013. It sounds like it could have been a contender for the same award in 1995. Seriously, these guys are doing it right. Chances are if you are reading this review you have already heard Daylight or bands with a similar sound. Stop what you are doing and buy this record. Trust me.

Definitely worth a listen...
This album is pretty solid overall. I really like the sound the band has here. Massive distortion that sounds extremely powerful yet clear enough to hear the subtleties. Drums beat heavily and are mixed right where they should be, and a bottom end bass that anchors the sound. This album can be cranked up as far as your stereo can handle, and it sounds better and better. I have a pretty nice stereo in my car (I always replace the crappy factory stuff when I get a new car) and this absolutely slams. The subwoofer pounds out bass like you wouldn't expect from a rock band. It sounds great, but yeah, it actually can get too loud... :)As for the songs, they're pretty good. Some stuff is better than others. These guys kinda bounce around from grunge, pop-punk, emo type vibes. But again, it's all super heavy. If you like distorted guitars, you won't be able to diss it. Some songs aren't extremely memorable to me, but it's all a matter of taste. The song writing is thought out and creative while not straying too far from standards of the genres mentioned above. I also like the guy's voice. It's tone is strong when it need to be, but he can also pull back and kinda drone along with the guitars. Sometimes melodies are somewhat boring, but I'm not going to give too much s*** about it because it always works with the music. The last thing I'll say is that the song "youngest daughter" is fantastic. Easily the best on this album. The chorus is so nice, and its hook will stay with you all day long. Nice work!

BUY THIS AND PLAY IT REALLY LOUD. IT IS INSANE.
This album is the little gem in my record collection. I love this band and this record is truly awesome, and to make it even better, the vinyl record was transparent green and it looks as good as it sounds!

Tie Dye
Recomendable 100%
