Im considering ordering this product since us version is out of stock. are there any differences between the us and eu versions or are they the same?

They are basically the same the only difference is that this one comes with a UK power cord but a US power cord can be used if needed.

Is the plug in on the psu standard. will it fit american?

The plug in port for power is the standard IEC 60320 C13 (same kind of port found on most US computers and monitors). It comes with a UK plug but you can buy a standard US power cable. I haven't had any issues with using it with a US power cord.
