Very comprehensive Kubernetes guide to start up.
Elton's book, much like his Docker In A Month Of Lunches, gets the reader from the very start with introduction to what is Kubernetes, how we came to it and where is best used, benefits, why and how. Besides theory on the first chapter, all way to end the student will be to do small tasksThrough practical mini lab scenarios, the book will guide you by the end of each chapter into solving a problem and help consolidate the learning. The structure of chapters builds over each other as Kubernetes components are related. This helps understanding and practicing to gain competence.Following the book is a set of code for small programs and Kubernetes manifests to follow along that you can learn from, expand and try out different setups. The book will set the reader up to start using and managing Kubernetes workloads basics, which is a lot to learn, and prepare the reader to learn more complex workloads later on, such as using pipelines, monitoring and CKA certification (the book covers about 80% of learning according to the author).

Really effective instructional model using really fun examples
I've purchased both this title and its predecessor - Learn Docker In A Month Of Lunches - and they're both tremendous resources if you're just getting started into modern cloud-native app management. The voice used throughout the book is knowledgeable, informative, funny, and encouraging. The examples and very practical and fun to follow along with. You won't be spending hours getting an environment setup before you start learning - you can pick this up and be productive from the get-go. And that's the entire point. While it's admittedly not an exhaustive tour of Kubernetes, it is an effective curriculum for getting up to speed with the major concepts and getting you on your way. You'll develop good habits, strong patterns, and reliable practices.
