4 Moons [Blu-ray]

Realistic, tender, painful, loving, sad, lustful, desperate, joyful... endings and beginnings, discovery, passion, strength, and more.The editing is fantastic: the segues between scenes, both within in a single story and from one to another, work so well together. Despite the differences in the current emotional circumstances in each story, they're all told in concert. By the end, I was swept away by the kindness, loss, understanding, hope, and love coursing through each story.The music is well chosen, both in song and score.The acting is spot on for the most part. There are a few moments that feel forced, 'performed' but, otherwise, oh my, most excellent. Their chemistry and openness make everything feel real. I was sucked in.Fito's mother is honest throughout, so as we approach the crescendo of his story, every moment is one hundred percent believable. She taught her son well. His honesty, and belief in himself, embody strength and love. I routed for him, hoping he'd get his happiness, wanting the people in his life to love and cherish him.Speaking of strength in character, young Mauricio has it in spades. He's full of fear, curiosity, conviction, and so much love. He's brave but doesn't realize it. It's a mark of a fantastic storyteller, and performer, to have your audience thinking about them long after the credits have rolled. I want to see him in 5, 10, 20 years. He's a good egg.The Professor. He's got strength, and love, and is looking for some understanding, some reciprocation of recognition. He's much closer to the end of his life than the beginning but it's never too late. Another wonderful performance by the actor. He reveals the younger version of himself by just a look in his eyes. So well done.Andrés, and his partner of about a decade. This story is a mixed bag for me. It's told just as well as the others, film work, music, everything is beautiful, meaningful. It feels a bit cliche and uncertain in its direction. On the other hand, that a story like theirs can feel 'everyday' is wonderful, how things should be.I unreservedly recommend this film. Enjoy. :)

This is truly one of the best gay films I have ever seen. It consists of four stories running together. One about a teenager coming out to his buddy with horrible results but then how the parts of the two boys handled the situation. Second, an old married man trying to recapture some of his youth by hiring a male prostitute and the heart-warming results of that encounter; third two guys fall in love but one is ultra homophobic about coming out. The scene of their first attempt at anal sex and funny and loving; and fourth, the relationship of two men, one deeply in love and the other "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence" and the confrontations and lessons learned. Loved, loved, loved the film!

4 Moons is a remarkable presentation of gay life told in four different, brilliantly interwoven stories of boys and men at various stages in life. One story is the examination of a curious adolescent in the dawn of discovering who he is. The second story gazes upon two young men reconciling their love for one another while in the process of coming out. The third is a review of a couple struggling to stay together after being in a relationship for 10 years. And the fourth story is a glimpse of an elderly man in the dusk of settling his affairs while remaining in the closet his entire life.The thoughtful writing and pitch perfect acting kept me engaged in 4 Moons. I found myself reconsidering all the characters, including the minor characters who most writers tend to either neglect or simplify to some cliche. Capturing everything from romantic bliss to loneliness, from discovery to disappointment, 4 Moons left me breathless and wallowing in an afterglow. It is the best gay-themed movie I've ever seen! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I realized after all four stories wrapped up at the end, that even though the language spoken in the stories was foreign to me, I was never cognizant of that fact. The stories mesmerized me and uplifted me so completely that I may just as well have understood the language fluently, which I don't. I watch international and subtitled movies occasionally and they are usually difficult for me to follow, so I continually employ the 10-second rewind button. I don't remember having to do that with this show at all. Saying this is one of the highest compliments I can give to a subtitled/international show. It was quite simply awesome. From there I could go on and on about the superb acting, excellent storyline, enchanting character development, and the intricate way the stories were entwined...but I will just let you see for yourself.

To be honest, I did not expect to like this film very much, but it was a bit too early for bed, andthis has been lurking in 'to watch' list for some time, and as it's free for Prime, what the heck!!I really liked it. I was drawn into it and stayed glued from beginning to end.I thought the acting was a bit forced in spots, but it was not distracting, and for the most partit was very realistic.The story about the 11 year old boy moved me the most because it reminded me of myself atthat age.When I came out to my Mom, she gave me a response I couldnt have expected.She told me she knew I was gay since I was a little kid.This film is now on my short-list of recommended queer cinema.

A very honest and rather poetic film about four stages in the lives of gay men. "Four Moons" successfully manages the tricky business of cutting back and forth among four completely separate, although thematically related, stories. Not easy to do do, as Griffith discovered with "Intolerance," but these guys pull it off--holding the viewer''s interest by making you care about the characters, and keeping you guessing as to how the love stories will end. It's a warm and sometimes sentimental movie that nevertheless doesn't pull its punches regarding the pain and disappointments in the lives of gay men. Why are foreign gay movies--especially those from Hispanic cultures--so much better than ours?

This is a wonderful movie, made with a lot of love, sensitivity and taste. I highly recommend it to anyone. I wish the director would have made more movies of the same kind. If he did, I am not aware of them. It is also unfortunate that if I type his name to search him on Amazon, neither him nor the movie comes out in the search results. I bought the movie both on DVD and on Blu-ray. so much I liked it.

These are four separate and non connecting stories that tell of the gay experience from completely different perspectives. In Spanish this film is lyrical without any coyness. The story of the young boy who fancies his cousin and gets rejected and then is macho father finds out will keep you on the edge of your seat. Very well done.

I would have given this purchase a full 5 stars if only the description of the product was correct. The blu ray played fine and appears to be in HD, but no where are you able to find the special features, which was one of the main reasons why i purchased this. Believe me, i got a 2nd person to check. The back of the blu ray says it's suppose to have it but no. So if you just want the movie in HD, then great! This would be great! But if you are like me and want to see all everything that has to do with the movie, then you will be greatly disappointed.

Le doy solamente tres estrellas porque la película tiene subtítulos en inglés incrustados, no hay forma de quitarlos. Por lo demás, sin problema.

EXCELLENT ...Well done ...Well filmed and acted ...It covers four different scenarios and many aspects of human nature ...Very entertaining ...I will watch it again to absorb what is happening...I highly recommend this movie ...Money well spent
