I have been using these sponges for as long as I can remember. They were the sponge of choice for my mom when I was young and I'm keeping the tradition going! I love how well these sponges clean and stand up to vigorous scrubbing! They are pre-moistened with some sort of liquid which keeps them soft and fresh during storage. My favorite thing about these sponges is how long they last! If properly stored, they can last for quite some time without falling apart! Tip: Be careful if cleaning a light colored fabric. The green color will bleed onto fabrics if using a new sponge.

Normally don't like sponges because they usually are very soft (no friction at all) and too soapy to ever really rinse well. I bought this item to mainly get a gentle scrub from the other side. However, the sponge scrub surface does rinse better than the usual sponge and also has a scrub surface.

I’ve tried different sponges over the years, and finally settled on my favorite about 12 years ago – Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponges. I use them for everything including washing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and cleaning nearly everything else that could use more scrubbing than a plain sponge can manage. In addition to three sponges for different kitchen tasks, I also have two in each bathroom – one for the toilet and one for general cleaning. Since I use so many of these sponges, often I purchase them in bulk from Costco, but if I can’t get to the store, Amazon has the 3 pack for a pretty good price. Better than what I pay for them in our local grocery store. One drawback is that on some materials, the green abrasive side may transfer color to the item you’re scrubbing. For example, I use these sponges to wash our indoor trash containers. Trying to remove an especially stubborn spot from a white, plastic kitchen trash can ended up leaving a permanent green scrub mark. So it’s a good idea to be wary of this when cleaning. Also, if you plan to use these sponges with bleach, they will break down and fall apart quicker than if you use them with regular dish soap. But I’ve yet to find a sponge that is resistant to the corrosive nature of bleach.

I have tried to use other sponges and none of them cleans quite like a scotch-brite! I love the way you can clean gentle items with the yellow soft side and then scrub those pots with the green side. The green side of the sponge is a scrubbing pad and it aids in cleaning those hard to get clean pots and pans. It is a heavy duty sponge and I use a sponge for about 2 weeks before I throw it out. Some people change them out sooner, I try to save a sponge until it has no life left. I definitely throw it out and exchange it for a new one before any mildew or bacteria sets into a sponge. Which can happen if you do not squeeze all of the water out and allow it to air dry completely. I love getting the 3 pack because you obviously are getting more for the value. It is my go to not only to wash dishes but to clean my oven or scrub my bathroom! I love this sponge!
