CUTE animals
I disagree with the reviewer who said you have to be into the "monster thing". The patterns are for absolutely ADORABLE animal toys, for the most part. My favorite is the adorable dog, but I love the fox, the moose, the fish, the elephant, the monkey, and the sweet, sweet bunny rabbit. There is a racoon, a cute bat, a squirrel, a frog, and owl. If you dislike the Bigfoot/Yetti (which I adore) make the cute little mouse. The beauty of this book is there are several body types, and a group of cute animals made from that one body type. There is a peanut body type, a bowling pin body type, a basic unitbody, a biscuit body, and a basic stitchy body. There are 6-7 different toys or decorative dolls made from each different body type. I showed this to my friend and she was so excited by the book, I ordered a copy for her. BUT, shame on you Amazon for careless packing. The adhesive for my gift book was attached to the BOOK not the shipping envelope, so there was a line of adhesive stuck all along the top back cover of the book, and the padded envelope was so thin that my gift book has a bent corner, lower right, and the spine has been creased about 3 inches from the bottom. I really hate getting what is supposed to ne a new book and having it come in used condition due to poor packing. The book has "clean readable pages", but at best is equivalent to "good" used condition. My own copy came in new condition, so it depends on what the post office does with the package, since it is not packed well enough for poor handling. Too bad.

Knittin' and grinnin'
I so love the little toys in this book and Rebecca Danger's cheerful and clear directions. There's no sewing up at the end of a project, just BAM! there it is -- no seams, no fussing around. The patterns are easy to adapt to your own ideas. (I made the fox in the picture just as directed by the book, while the jackalope was made in the basic shape of the fox, with the jackalope pattern's head details. I did it this way so they'd make a pair as gifts for a couple.) The author's sense of humor shines everywhere. I have never grinned much when finishing a hat or blanket -- but these toys make me grin all the time.

great patterns, easy to learn, and very charming results.
It's great. it's a bunch of basic bodies, with different arms, legs, and bits, and your yarn use is pretty small. Personally, I've been using it to practice techniques that are new to me, like picking up stitiches, before I start a sweater, and also because I enjoy knitting toys and would like to figure out more about toy design. I've completed a raccoon, and will be making her a sister, as there's been a request. Highly recommend the book.

Takes time
Nice book but I struggle with some Olof the instructions. I do have to play with it a bit. Very cute projects!

Favorite knitting book.
I love this book. Clever ideas for knitting small animals. Directions that are easy to follow once you master magic loop knitting. It's a hit with me. I have been knitting toys from this book for months. Great results and my knitting skills have vastly improved. About my favorite knitting book ever!

Excellent book with enticing patterns
Excellent patterns that turn out cute no matter how many errors I make. I have made three of the toys so far. The directions are clear and easy to follow. Because all the patterns are so enticing I want to make all the toys in the book. A beginner with a little help will find great enjoyment from this book. This is an excellent book for intermediate knitters.

Scary monsters
Got this for my knitting-freak partner - she loves it and has made lots of the animal type things, including a custom one of our late guinea pig, Elvis, complete with quiff. If you need a change from scarves and baggy jumpers, this could be the book for you!
