Di Van Niekerk's Roses in Silk and Organza Ribbon

Have you ever looked at silk or paper flowers and wondered to yourself 'how did they do that'? If so, this is the book you need to have in your collection as it answers that question and many more. I make millinery flowers for civil war era hats and finally got tired of purchasing paper and silk florals from suppliers, and thought that I will just make them myself. Well, this book will certainly make that possible as it shows with great detail every aspect of creating the most fragile and beautiful flowers petals you can imagine. Now the best part of it all is that it is so very simple! With some time and very basic tools that you probably already have in your house, you can create silk or paper flowers that look as if they have survived the ravages of time in perfect condition! The ability to create vintage quality florals yourself will only serve to inspire you further - from a single flower to a full boquet - one will not be enough I guarantee it! If you only purchase one book this year, make it this one, you will not be disappointed.

Love the book. If you are a needle work enthusiast and like to learn new techniques you will enjoy Di Van Niekerk's books. I live in a remote area and can't take classes but I enjoy needlework especially during the winter months. With these books I was able to complete a previous project and look forward to this doing this one. I wish Di Van Niekerk's stitching supplies were readily available through Amazon. Although you can substitute supplies and complete these projects, her hand died ribbons are beautiful with subtle color variations.

Making 3dflowers for a quilt

For anybody who loves roses, silk ribbon embroidery, and handicrafts this is truly fabulous. I have been doing silk ribbon embroidery for about 10 years now and there are many good books out there and I have most of them. However, this DiVan Niekerk is a real genius of an artist although some of the patterns would be a challenge it was just a wonderful addition to my library. It is not a beginner's book on silk ribbon embroidery but is very spectacular. Very happy with it.

I love this Roses in Silk and Organza book! The pictures are stunning and the illustrations are very easy to follow. I can't wait to start adding these beautiful flowers to many items that are just waiting for that final touch of beauty! I'm also starting to make several extras for my package decorating box for a beautiful keep sake from the package bow. Thank you!

This book is just too beautiful! I have been making lots of different flowers lately-anyone who makes them knows it can be addictive. I have tried a few of her techniques- some of them are very involved- but I will still give it shot:) I can't wait to buy some of her ribbon from her website. Beautiful colors-very special! Even if you don't make one flower- you will not regret buying this book-the images are just lovely!

I'm one of those people that have books and patterns of projects I plan to do, but probably will never do. I've read through this book several times...the instructions are easy and the pictures are many. There are quite a few projects the book offers. Lists of what type of ribbon and thread you'll need are also included. I think that these beautiful ribbon flowers are something that I can actually start (and finish) someday.

This book is amazing! It is well written with great images and clear instructions. The flowers and all the items in the book are really easy to do and you'll have the same results as the images in the book. I would highly recommend this to all those hand craft enthusiast who don't mind sitting and sewing. This book worked great for my project and I wouldn't be able to accomplish much if I didn't have this book.

Wer die englische Sprache nicht liest, und ganz am Anfang von dieser tollen Handarbeitstechnik steht, wird allerdings keine schnellen Erfolgserlebnisse haben. Hier sollte man zusätzlich die Website und den Youtube-Kanal von Di van Niekerk besuchen. Für all diejenigen, die die Grundtechniken beherrschen und tolle Anregungen suchen, ist das Buch perfekt.Ich empfehle es ohne Vorbehalt.

This is a beautiful book and the resulting roses are elegant. But the ribbons are not available in this area. One then has to substitute or order from the writer. I like the concepts and the results very much but wonder how I can achieve them myself.

Wonderful ribbon book, very realistic looking roses. lots of pictures and diagrams,very good written instructions too.use thread and glue, with silk and organza ribbons.You can make a whole sampler or just take one of the roses as a stand alone flower.Also covers 3D raised embroidery and photo transfer onto fabric,this is a book that I will keep for years to come.
