Hopefully a nice taste of things to come
I picked this up after hearing 10 seconds of Dangerous on some alt-rock radio survey and was immediately hooked by the bass line and vocal melody. Additionally, I also really like the stripped down nature of the song. Big Data are an electronic pop band and this song's melody is very evocative of 80s dance pop. However, Dangerous stays very very far away from the over-produced sound that a lot of electronic bands can adopt. I haven't actually pulled out a stopwatch to measure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the song consisted just of a bass, drums, and one singer. A very nice breath of fresh air. While I picked up the EP primarily for Dangerous, I was also interested in what else these guys had to play. Of the other three songs on the EP, Big Dater is perhaps the strongest. It's slower than Dangerous and the synths are much more present throughout the entire song. However, there are some nice vocal melodies that earn this song a spot on my iPod commute rotation. The Stroke of Return is a faster tune that reminds me of New Order for some reason (also with a heavy synth presence), with some decent melodies and dance-able beats. It doesn't yet earn the numerous repeats of Dangerous and Big Dater on the iPod yet but perhaps one day. Bombs Over Brooklyn is the only song that I might actually have some negative thoughts about. The beat doesn't really get me going and it lacks the catchy melodies of the other songs. But one miss out of 4 songs seems reasonable (and that miss is a very subjective opinion).Overall, a very good initial effort. I was about to ding them a star because this is a pretty short EP (I'm used to seeing 5-6 songs). However, this EP is also pretty inexpensive compared to most. So the value offered is excellent. Dangerous and Big Dater alone are worth the purchase price.

"Dangerous" ~ My Go-To Tune for Fall 2013
Really enjoyed this EP, knew I had to have it when I first heard the raunchy, scary--sexy "Dangerous" on Sirius. Have had that tune on "repeat" more times than I can count, it's just that hot. Also dig the more upbeat, booty-shakin' "Bombs Over Brooklyn." Great new music from these up and coming Indie artists.

Too Short
Being left wanting more in this case is not a bad thing. Fantastic funky sound with clever lyrics and catchy beats. Highly recommended despite the brevity.

Dangerous has a hook that won't let go!
Dangerous is far and away the best cut on this EP and a throwback to 80's dance club hits. Remember dance clubs?

Good effort for 1st EP. Looking forward to more from these guys. Love the use of the strong base line in most songs.

Big Data!!!
Heard "Dangerous" one time and instantly fell in love with Big Data! Hope they come out with a full LP soon. Until then the EP will have to do. Already added it to my digital DJ rotation.
