I have an 06 Polaris sportsman 500 that i put this in, to replace the factory winch that i was having issues with the contactor on. this winch only comes with about 1.5-2 foot power leads, really limiting the mounting options. the winch leads are about 6-7 feet. I had to reverse the lines, inorder to use the same mounting location as the factory contactor. so now, i have a blue and yellow running to the battery and a red and black going to the winch. they are the same size lines, so not a huge deal, but kind of an inconvinence, and i have no slack in either of the lines, leaving limited options, and would likely not work on a machine that is larger.

Good pricing from Amazon. I was torn between the Warn 4000 and the similar Mile Marker but went with the Warn for the plug and play remote that works great. My application is not to use it on a quad or side by side but to mount it in the bed of my pick-up to assist in loading larger adventure type bikes. I mounted a 3/8" cross plate across the frame with a hitch receiver welded to a removable plate so I could install and remove the winch when I need. I set it up with "Anderson power plugs" and wires so I could just plug it in. Since I have a cross bed tool box, the physical size was a factor as was a long line.The winch works very well as does the remote control. I'd prefer a bit slower pull speed but for a quad or side by side it is probably perfect. Since the unit is designed to be used in a quad/side by side application, I had to come up with an alternate wiring system to bypass the toggle switch. A bit tricky with some trial and error and it works well. My application also needed the contactor and electrical stuff to be in a standard winch control box which I bought from Warn. Normally the wiring is under the body of a quad etc. and somewhat shielded from the elements. Warn customer service was very helpful and recommended various odds and ends to make the winch work with my application. One of the reasons I went with Warn was when calling Mile Marker, I was on hold for over 30 minutes before I was transferred to someone else. They make a good winch but customer service was lacking.I would recommend the Warn 4000 winch to anyone needing a good solid 2T winch. It's more capacity than is likely needed but keep in mind the rating is on the first wrap on the spool. The last 10' near the hook is probably 1/4 the capacity.

Easy to install just bolted right on

Replaced a 21 year old Warn 2500 ATV winch, that was worked hard and finally gave up the ghost. New one lined up perfect and connections were re-used. Super easy and great value.

I just installed a Warn Vantage 2000 winch on my 2012 Honda Rancher 420 4x4 using this 84704 mount. Additionally, I installed a Pro Vantage front plow mount while I had it opened up. Fit up was great considering the space and options allowed. It would have been a huge task to fabricate my own but I do have all the capability. Yes, the instructions lack crystal clear clarity and the images are too close in to easily identify orientations. It could likely help a lot of installers to understand the winch mounts upside down with the brand stickers facing back. Also, in the step describing placing the winch on the bumper then putting the bumper back on the quad...the winch bolts to nothing yet, you just set it there. If this is too "fumbley" for you put a few zip ties on it. I am a highly skilled technician of 30 years, I write assembly instructions for a living these days...this was a tedious installation and well worth some time and patience...give yourself an entire day if you've never done one of these before. Warn makes good stuff and these are no exceptions. If you have little technical installation experience consider professional installation, it will save you a lot of stress and frustration. This is doable and works fantastic once its all said and done. Happy wrenching !!

I installed this and was very impressed with the high quality of the Warn components. I would absolutely recommend the purchase of this brand. I do not know of other brands, but the Warn is packaged with each set of screw hardware to match the directions, the wires are cut to length to match the installation, the wires are terminated with proper connections, and even the power leads on the winch are color coded. What else do you want? Truly, this is a high quality device and I cannot see myself buying another as this fit and works so well. Mine is equipped with the synthetic rope as opposed to cable and I would suggest that it is worth the premium due to its utility and ease of use. Do read the excellent manual on winching that comes with it. I thought I knew it all, and took two good points from the manual, (one on snatch block use), and you may also.
