I found the book informative, useful and enjoyable.

I was a history student and have done my post graduation in it. Tirthankar Roy was a go to and a well revered author when it came for economic history. I always enjoyed his writing. Sans jargon, he was able to put forward his views and in very simple manner.Coming from that point of view, this book is not exactly a scholarly work. But someone who is interested in history as a subject and wants to read more about the company which ruled India for quite few years, this book can work as a good starting point. Three stars from a history student perspective.

Very good book and I like it very much. Lucid language and neat depiction of the East India Company stage by stage. It gives us immense knowledge about the company which established Empire hitherto there was no name to any hundreds of countries existed in our land and the company named our country as India. Everyone should read it to know the history.

Book has no foot notes, but instead short list of references in the end. even though writing in a lucid style, it is not mean for students of history.

Running sequence anyhow maintained throughout.
