Match the serial number first
My air conditioner went out last summer and it was due to the old part going out. It didn't cost a lot of money to order this part, and it was exactly what I needed. It fit and since we have put this part on, the air conditioning has been in working order. We compared the new part to the old part and the numbers matched up. Make sure that you check to see if your old part is compatible with the new part before purchasing.

Made Heat Pump Much More Efficient, Replaced Old One
Installed as replacement for capacitor in my 3 ton heat pump. Heat pump was not very efficient putting out heat. It would start and run fine but efficiency was poor and not putting out very hot air. Replaced with this capacitor and output of heat pump was much warmer and works so much better.

if your AC is tripping the breaker on startup, consider this
installed on a goodman GSX130481BC our central AC kept tripping the breaker on startup, so i did some research and arrived at the possibility that the capacitor could be causing this (the cap can't supply enough power when the AC kicks on). read numerous guides and watched numerous videos about how to test/replace, and eventually worked up enough guts to turn off the power and try it myself. disconnected the old cap and verified with a capacitance meter that it was fried (the 45 uF side was only registering about 19-20 uF). took pictures with my phone of the wiring, picked up a new mounting strap at lowes (since this one is smaller in diameter than my old one was), and installed this new capacitor. once i committed to making the swap, it only took about 15 minutes from start to finish. turned the power back on, and the AC started right up. going to be picking up another one of these to keep on hand, since my research also suggested they fail often. tips for installation: 1) make sure you discharge the old cap first (there are plenty of videos showing many methods to accomplish this). it may already be discharged (it was in my case), but better safe than sorry. don't zap yourself when disconnecting the old cap. 2) take lots of pictures of the wiring before disconnecting the old cap, so you know how to install the new one and what wires go where. 3) if the new capacitor isn't the same size as your old one, go to the hardware store and buy pluming hanger strap for about a dollar and use that to mount the new one, rather than trying to mess around with bending the old strap. this is optional but i figured it was a good idea.

Fairly easy fix for a simple failure of an A/C exterior unit
A friend showed me one of the failure modes of a home A/C: The thermostat is on and the interior fan runs, but the exterior unit's fan and compressor don't run. He told me that a failed "Run Capacitor" is often the culprit. I turned off the power to the exterior A/C unit, opened the panel and found the Run Capacitor. Following the example I found among YouTube videos, I used an insulated screwdriver to short any remaining voltage on the capacitor. Then I took a photo with my smartphone to recall where the wires were attached and pulled the wires off with an insulated pair of plyers. The replacement capacitor slid right in where the old one had been, and I reattached the wires on the new capacitor, closed up the panel and restored power. That solved the problem. Now for a caution: I am not an electrician or an A/C tech, and there are high voltages and currents present in A/C units which can be dangerous. If you don't know what to do, call an expert for help. If the capacitor replacement hadn't fixed the problem, I would also have had to request a service call.

Did the trick! Saved us some cash!
Looked up some DIY videos on what was going on with our AC and pretty much concluded the capacitor was the issue. Ordered size off the unit specs and my husband replaced it in 20 minutes. Works like a charm now!! Capacitor essentially kickstarts the compressor and can go out after time, like any battery. Cheap fix!!!!

Solid replacement
Our AC went out during a heat wave. Ordered this, arrived same day, and our AC was back up and running that same night. Very easy to install and was an perfect replacement.

Having this on hand, waiting for the breakdown.. Saved the Day!
Instead of waiting for the Air Con to break down on a Sunday night, with high temperatures, I ordered this, and had it on hand. The dreaded day came, no Air Con guy could come, so I installed it myself from YouTube instructions, and ... amazing... it all worked again. Worth its price and weight in Gold to have waiting, standing by. I bought another one, for the other Air Con.. for its dreaded day.
