Delicious Authentic Full-Plant Hojicha
This is an excellent and authentic hojicha tea, made from all of the tea plant on the final harvest: leaves, stems and stocks. Before roasting (in porcelain, over charcoal), the leaves are tightly rolled, and may appear similar to the stems by those looking quickly. Unlike other green teas, hojicha does well with boiling water (100ºC / 212ºF), although I myself prefer 80ºC/176 ºF at a slightly longer steeping. All the flavor notes are just right, with a sweetness and a toasted caramel flavor as much as color. Without any bitterness, I can make at least two brews from the same leaves, and enjoy these cups late into the evening.

tearyra tea better and cheaper Hojicha than Argo
I spent $39.00 on Argo to buy the tea I love Hojicha, my favorite Japanese Green tea. I got the Tealyra and I got more tea, cheaper and just as great. This is a strong Green tea that I love. It has a roasted flavor that makes it great. It is hard to find but I know where to look now!

Steeped Straw
This hojicha has no smokey flavor at all that I can detect. It's mild all right--tastes like old straw that has been scraped off the stable floor. The stems are too large--the mark of a low-quality hojicha. Hojicha is a cheap tea in Asia, but this is cheap in quality and high in price for what you're getting. Don't buy this unless you love the taste of straw, not smoky straw, just straw.

No sugar needed!
This tea is so tasty that even I with my major sweet tooth who never drinks tea without sugar or at least honey will drink it straight. I feel very relaxed and healthy when I drink it. It is very low in caffeine which is exactly what I was looking for.

Good, if and only if you like a lighter tea
Rather mixed feelings here. On the one hand, this is one of the *cleanest* hoji-chas I've ever found, with virtually no dust in the bag. Decently large leaves, with little residue left in the pot -- a tea suited for company. That said, it is also the *lightest* hoji-cha I've found, which is less to my taste. Even with half again the volume of leaves, it brews a tea that is brown but nowhere near as darkly-colored as I'm used to, and not as strongly flavored. So this one's a matter of taste. If you're looking for a refined green tea with a bit of smoky edge, this is likely a good choice. If you're looking for a stronger flavor, though, I'd look elsewhere. (Sadly, my favorite loose hoji-cha seems to have been discontinued, so I'm still on the hunt for a new one that I love.)

Wonderful tea.
This tea is perfect, earthy, smooth, Smokey, nutty, filling. I drink it anytime of day with just a dash of almond milk. I am so in love! My kids drink it as well.

I love this tea. I buy from Tealyra website now, they have sales all the time and a wonderful selection of loose and bagged tea.

I enjoyed this tea alongside a meal
Though the flavor is pleasant, it's not superb. I enjoyed this tea alongside a meal, but by itself carefully tasting it the product seems slightly burnt. I really purchased this tea because I was looking for a green tea with especially low caffeine content that I could enjoy in the evenings. Unfortunately, contrary to it's description, this tea seemed to have as much caffeine as any other green I've tried and as a result I struggled to sleep after drinking it in the evening. Though it has a very appealing price and was delivered quickly, I was disappointed with the flavor of this tea, and unhappy to find that I could not drink it in the evening as I had hoped to.
