This should be considered a mandatory upgrade part for any sewage sump.
Once you get past the horror of replacing the old one with this, which thank the heavens is a quick task with the band clamps (have a large bucket in place, and pray you don't have six feet of "effluence" trapped above it when you undo that last clamp), and have finished decontaminating everything in sight in case it splashed out, you can enjoy the spectacle of safely watching your poo flow by every time the pump kicks on. It's like a tiny little pooquarium most of the time, at least in vertical installations, as whatever poo-water is still in the vertical pipe above the valve when the pump stops, stays in the vertical pipe above the valve. It always did, just now you can see it. Which is helpful for seeing at a glance if the pump is actually moving anything when it runs, and what exactly, in disgusting detail, is being moved. If your old valve was a cheap Home Depot special like mine was, and would always thump loudly like a demon pounding to get out of the poo-well, startling the bejeezus out of you in the middle of the night every time the pump stopped becuase a six foot column of poo water slammed the valve close, these geniuses somehow also made your new pooquarium virtually silent too. Great upgrade to a rather horrifying part of your plumbing system, giving you a way to easily monitor and partly diagnose what's going on with it, when necessary, without having to traumitize yourself by actually unsealing the lid of that cursed pit, until you know you have to. Or if you've decided to traumatize your plumber instead, you'll be able to give him a little more information to work with beforehand.

Easy to put in and very quiet
Have tried many check valves and this one is the best hands down. Easy to install, silent, and can see water in.

Unbelievably quiet PumpSpy Silent Sump Pump Check Valve - transparent 2 inch
I had a sump pump check valve that was so loud it shook the house every time the pump shut off. I installed a new PumpSpy silent 2-inch check valve, and since I didn't believe that there would be much noise reduction, I teed off of the 2-inch line with a 1-inch line just downstream of the new valve, for use as a hammer arrestor. Then I teed that 1-inch line into an upward hammer arrestor and a downward drain line with a valve so that I can drain the downstream main 2-inch line into a bucket in the future if needed, without making a big smelly mess. The result is a check valve operation that is so quiet that in order to hear it you have to be standing within a few feet of it, and you also need to be looking at it in order to be sure that it actually was operating. If there's any background noise, then you won't hear this new valve at all. The loudest part is actually the sound of the pump running, which is also quiet in this case by the way. If you don't hear the faint noise of the pump running, then you will not likely hear the valve at all.

Does the job, but Valve Body blew apart 3 mths after warranty expired
For the low price, I am overall happy I found this product. Prior to installing this, our softener would wake me up at night when it was running a cycle - with a loud bang. This makes it completely silent. It is amazing how good it works. It lasted 2 years and 3 months after installing (product has a 2 year warranty). But for $25-$30 , well worth having! What happened is that the Valve Body broke, causing water to leak. The Valve Body is two pieces that should have been glued together all around, but instead, only half of it was glued. The unglued half started leaking. There is only 1/8" of overlap joining the two pieces, and this is not enough to withstand the pressure of the kind of installation I have. 1/8" is not much holding these two pieces together. I had it supported on one side, or it would have blown apart. As it is, the pressure inside that caused the unglued half to come apart even broke the edge on that half (1st photo). If these are all built the same, make sure you put a thrust block against the cap so the cap doesn't blow off the end. I had the block on it, so there was only a leak, and thankfully the entire utility area was not flooded. It definitely makes it very quiet, so that is good. Would be good if the two pieces were joined together more securely, considering the back pressure from a 2" pipe and the hammering from the water that it needs to stand up to. Will need to be replaced every couple of years, for sure. Noise reduction is excellent, though.

Noise is 100% gone!
I could not believe how simply replacing the old check valve completely eliminated the water hammer noise from my ejector pump. The PumpSpy is not only silent, but the see through body allows me to verify correct functioning.
