La Dalia Pimenton De La Vera Picante DOP Hot Smoked Paprika(2-Pack)

I had originally purchased this from a Ross or TJ Maxx. The boyfriend is super into spicy food and he cooks for us a lot so I picked it up on a whim. He scoffed at the picante labeling thinking it would be super mild. It’s not!! It actually has an amazing smoky flavor and a decent amount of heat!We use it in egg and veggie scrambles (with tons of garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, fresh peppers, etc) all the time, but my favorite use just might be as a hummus topper. A good sprinkling on a fresh batch of hummus along with an olive oil drizzle and you’ve got something special. Especially after it’s been in the fridge for a bit and the olive oil gets infused with smoky goodness and oh boy. Just try it. Also, you’re welcome.I was super stoked to find it here since no stores around seem to carry it. What a totally random score that I’ll never be without again!

This one has blown my mind. I got the hot version and it’s amazing. It adds incredible depth of flavor and isn’t too hot.Came well sealed with tape over the top and a secure package. There’s a small dent in the canister, but it’s pretty hard not to have a bump or two.It’s a lovely canister and has over a year before it’s best by date.

I feel sorry for those who aren't adventurous enough to try smoked paprika. The only other person that I know of that keeps it as a staple is my daughter. People just don't know what they're missing. I've reordered this brand several times and it's always fresh and never disappoints. I have both the hot and milder version in my spice drawer. They're great on so many things. Love the hot on soft fried eggs with toast these days. I don't skimp either.

In the past, I've purchased this from the Spice House in Evanston, and theirs is far superior. This tastes chemical-like, as though it was not really smoked, instead some kind of "smoke" chemical was added. Actually, I think I'm going to pitch it, and order it from the Spice House, which only has mail order due to Covid 19.

I had a recipe for Iberian style sausage and chicken ragu. It called for pimenton de la vera. Thus, I ordered this product. I can only tell you that this spice absolutely made the recipe. I had never tasted anything like this ragu in my whole life and I loved it. I look forward to using this smoked paprika in other recipes.

Discovered this brand in Hungary, which is supposed to be the home of paprika -- but it's a Spanish product. Who cares. This paprika has real character. It blends medium heat with a clean, distinct flavor -- usually you just get the flavor or the heat. A few shakes of this will definitely perk up your dishes. I've become kind of addicted to it, putting it on and in everything, but that's not important right now.

This is so far superior to the grocery store variety as to be in a class of its own. The robust and complex taste, with just a hint of heat has significantly brightened up and improved everything in which I have used it. This is my new "go-to" paprika which I will definitely buy again!

I've used this product in multiple spanish and creole dishes with excellent results. It has a nice heat with robust flavor. I've not noticed any bitterness when using this product as I have with other smoked paprikas.
