Years ago, when my kids were younger, we would go camping quite a bit. Hot dogs, bacon, shish kabobs, corn on the cob, etc. were of course staples for these outings. We would camp where there were BBQ pits or grills so we could let them cook their own food for meals. Over the years, one by one, our skewers seemed to disappear. Well, I purchased some bamboo ones for barbecuing at home but it is such a hassle to have to soak them before hand, especially if you decide last minute to BBQ. Plus, you inevitably get at least one little shred (or more) of the bamboo coming off in your food. ICK! Okay, time to go back to "old fashioned" metal skewers. Just could not find any that I liked in my small town, or they were outrageously priced. I saw these and knew I wanted to try them. I am glad I did! I really like the fact that they are flat as opposed to completely round, which helps them to not roll around on your grill. Plus, the ends are sharp, not flat, in order for your food to go on easily. Like most of this type, the ends are rounded to help you grab them for flipping over. I do wish that they had two improvements. First, since they are so sharp, it would be nice to have some kind of end caps on them so you are not poking yourself while they are not in use. Second, it would be nice to have a bag or pouch of some sort to store them in, not only for convenience of not losing them but also to keep them from getting scattered and scuffed in your drawer or cabinet. I like them, although they do seem a bit overpriced, but I am sure I will enjoy them for years to come.

I love grilling shish ka bobs in the summer but I hate using wooden skewers because even when I soak them they still flame on and that is super annoying. Enter these nice metal skewers. No more flamey shish! I do not like my food THAT well done ha ha.So these bad boys not only don't flame up but they are nice and long so basically unless you have big eaters you can count on each person eating one skewer's worth of meat, maybe two if you're adding a lot of veggies.I like to skewer beef and chicken and season them with a variety of marinades and rubs and add tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, bell pepper, onion, and basically anything I can think of. Teriyaki works well on shishes, so does Kikkoman's Garlic marinade.You just have to make sure you turn these bad boys a few times and if you're doing chicken, try to make your slices a little thin so they cook in the middle otherwise you end up with chicken pieces that are burned on the outside and raw on the inside which is no bueno.Love these, bought a new BBQ to try them out on and yay it's grilling season!* I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review and unbiased opinion. I have never liked the wooden Shish Kabob skewers that you have to soak for a couple hours before you can safely use them on your grill - but I do love grilled meat and veggies. You plan ahead, soak your skewers, get them all ready to use, and then they burn anyway and you end up throwing them out. Well, not any more. With these new flat metal BBQ skewers I no longer have to soak them. They can not burn because they are made of a sturdy chromed zinc alloy. And the best part - when we are done, I can just put them in the dishwasher for easy clean-up. They are ready to for me to use again - not to go out and buy some more. Another great feature is the shape. They are flat rather than round, so the food doesn't slide around when you try to turn them over on the grill. They have sharp, pointed tips which makes it easy to insert into your food. And the skewers are fifteen inches long, which is plenty long to hold a considerable amount of food. Just as described. We enjoy grilling and use them about once a week. So much better and easier to work with than the bamboo skewers we used to use.
