BOUGHT AGAIN
I wanted special lighting for special art and Situ's 8" mini met every requirement: LED, rechargable, easy to install and unobtrusive. I've had inexpensive brass plated battery operated lights that are difficult to mount and service and was looking for a final solution to the hassles that always result: installation, dead batteries and bulbs and the inevitable deteoriation of the finish. Situ eliminated all these problems. The lights are precision high quality construction, requires no screws are easily removed for charging. My first unit arrived with a defective charger and was immediately replaced. My second order was a last minute Christmas decision I didn't expect to receive in time but arrived 2 days after ordered and with 4 days to spare. The attached photos are identical lights on significantly different sized frames. The lights are slightly adjustable to accommodate a variety of sizes and shapes. I like precision and the heft of these lights exude quality. Not inexpensive but museum quality for special art.

Best product + best customer service = my first Amazon review ever
I have been wanting a light that will illuminate some favorite paintings for years - everything I tried had messy cords, was super expensive and difficult to install. Then I saw this product on Amazon with the very helpful reviews and a little dream came true. The Mini-Spot arrived quickly, beautifully and responsibly packaged - and works perfectly. There was about a 30 second installation time after the initial charge - I put it on top of the frame, turned it on, and instantly one of my favorite paintinga was highlighted by this discrete and simply designed little spotlight. The light continued to work perfectly on the low setting for about 10 days at 5 hours a day. Then we charged it - uh oh. Stopped working.....because someone in my household used another charger (the instructions that come with the Mini-Spot clearly state not to do this as it will break the light). Despite our user error which was completely responsible for the issue, after I emailed Amazon Situ Lighting replaced the light at no cost the next day. I mean - the next day. At no cost. When I said I thought I should pay for it as I broke it - the response was: "Everyone makes mistakes, we will cover this for you." So I got back a new unit very quickly - and it continues to work perfectly to do what it is intended to do - highlight an otherwise pretty dark painting. This is my new favorite thing from my new favorite company. Did I mention that I called to discuss the issue - and spoke for 10 minutes with the company's president who answered my call personally?? He was lovely: funny, smart. informative, and totally focused on my positive experience as a customer. Found out there are new products coming. Sign me up! Oh yes, the cons: there aren't any. The price is a tiny bit intimidating but when I realize how long this product will last and the value that comes with it - plus the fact they stand behind their products and their lights are made in America - it is totally worth it. So easy to use, and so effective. I am re-evaluating how all of my paintings will look with the addition of one of the Situ lights! Thanks you for an amazing product and your equally amazing customer service, Situ Lighting.

Quality Art Lighting
Have had for a year and a half. Great, so far. Well built, looks stylish, is compact, lightweight and has different light intensities. Easily just sits atop the frame. I am 6’-2”, so turning on or off is easy. If you are shorter you would need a step stool to reach. Would have been great with a remote but I understand that the current technology is such that those with remote have a constant minimal battery drain, so the need to recharge is more frequent. Mine tends to last about a little over a week before needing to recharge. It is pricey but well worth the money. Highly recommend.

Great solution for home installation but life cycle limitations
Update 06/09/2025: Difficulties with older version but likely to purchase replacements because they work in my peculiar situation. First purchases of fifteen of the mini lights were 5 1/2 and 6 years ago. I added four of the new version at the beginning of 2023. Of the originals, several have reached the point of not accepting a charge and those chargeable are lasting six to ten hours. The new version lights from 2023 are still going strong and have held a charge without use for a substantial period of time, much better than the earlier model. I'm torn over whether to replace the older units, but installing good powered lamps and associated electrical outlets and tracks in multiple rooms is "decoratively" impractical in my case. Update 12/29/2022: I will soon purchase several more. I have 15 of these lights and continue to enjoy them. While I have just had the first failure, the remaining lights seem to be working well and batteries holding a charge through 35 hours of use. This is a home application and I most often only turn them on when we have company so have no idea what their life span would be in a daily application. Original review from 2019: I enjoy printing and mounting photographs in my home. A successful lighting solution needed to have accurate color rendition. With very high ceilings that make focusing light impractical and to avoid extending electricity to each photo, I tried the Situ lights five months ago. I have since followed up with multiple additional purchases from Amazon and direct from the mfr of both the 8" and 11" lights. I am well satisfied. I chose 8" lights in hallway installations, and the 11" unit when more separation was available between picture and viewer. While the 8" gives less spread than the 11", I am satisfied with the spread of both on the 13x19" images attached. Using a wire to hang the pictures is critical to give enough space to hang the battery unit. Simple pin and hook connections tend not to allow enough space - you need to come out about 7/8" from the wall. Removal for recharging is very simple. The auto-off after 5 hours has worked well for me as usage is typically only in the evening. To avoid a reflection of the source light, it must be hung lower than might be typical. The third image attached shows the highest picture with the light fixture 17" above my eye level. From 30" away the reflection is on the top mat. I haven't found it to be a distraction.

Pricey, but well-made and EASY to use - fulfills its purpose perfectly.
This is a great product, if expensive. I had been looking for exactly this product for some time. The significantly cheaper options are made of plastic, weight a lot, and use cumbersome replaceable batteries. I've included some pictures of the product operating in total darkness, as well as a comparison of the same picture with no light, the low brightness setting, and the high brightness setting. I find that the low light level is perfect, particularly as a majority of my pieces are framed behind glass and I want to minimize glare. On canvases of course there is no problem. The head is fixed. you might be able to re-angle with a screwdriver, but I have not tried yet. ***UPDATE 10/17 The seller contacted me after seeing my review and let me know that the head IS adjustable. Super!*** But overall it is a very thoughtfully designed product, and works on a majority of frames quite easily. The light is very neutral - I find the hue they have settled on does a great job of bringing out the natural colors in the artwork. I have used this with acrylics, pencils, and mixed-media pieces and it works well everywhere. I may be addicted to this. The minimal profile is easy to incorporate almost anywhere. I'm a little torn by the lack of a remote. It would be nice, but for most of my pieces I don't need it, but for the higher ones I miss it. ***UPDATE 10/17 The manufacturer contacted me and after reading the review and explained very logically that a remote function is not included because of an unpreventable drain on the battery when not in use, which I understand and appreciate. Super!*** I'd say the maximum size you would want the mini-spot for is about 31" x 31" (with fair coverage everywhere). I enjoy this product so much I made my first video review, so that should tell you something. I'm also going to go show it off at the local framing store. I've had my first piece for about a month now - I'll update if there are any changes. Also, although there is not a lot of light bleed outside of the 'cone of influence', these do provide some nice ambient light. With two of them on in a large room at night, I can easily navigate around without any other lights. Also, no glare off the TV from these. Enjoy!

High quality lighting for artwork.
Beautiful and solid. My artwork looks amazing! I’m very pleased with my purchase! My artwork is rather large and was “hidden” because of the color palate. With this convenient and beautifully made lighting it finally stands out!

It pays for itself in seconds.
If you're here reading this, it's not because you have some random thing on the wall you want to throw some light on. You're here because you have something in your possession that moves you—that makes you feel something special. But you're questioning if it's worth this amount of money for a tiny little light to illuminate it. Forget the light itself for a second...What's it worth to you to make that object you love come alive? To see new colors and textures and details in it each time you look at it? To show it off to everyone (admit it.) If any of that excites you...then back to the light: it's small and unobtrusive—it's very solid with no looseness to any part—the LEDs and head adjust smoothly—the tiny on/off/level button on top of the unit has a sturdy, even click—the light it throws is warm with no harsh edges*—It sits atop/behind (standard-hung) paintings with ease, and removes for charging just as easily. (French cleat or similar may have an issue depending on mounted distance from wall.) This was not a family that said, "Let's put a little picture light together and make some money." They obviously understand art, appreciate the importance of using quality components, and have expert-level craftsmanship—(and clearly a shared passion for the things we love.) I ordered one just to see, and am ordering four more after I'm done writing this. Just do it—it will pay for itself in seconds. *In my picture, it may look like there is a harsh lighting line on the painting, but there isn't! It's in the actual painting. Wish list: remote for wireless option, and longer charge cord to charge unit in situ. ;-)

Superbe!

Functional and Delicate
Love the fact that this light is so tiny so it does not compete with the art, yet is powerful enough. Also no installation required. Great design and performance. Totally worth the investment.
