An unforgettable wartime Christmas
I enjoyed this book. It is the first book I have read about the "Land Girls" serving the British Army working the fields on country farms so the men could go to war. Food needs to be produced for the soldiers and the population. The friendships developed between the girls and their different romantic interests was heartwarming. They stuck together and they protected each other. The characters were warm, likeable and believable. When a German plane crashed and two German airmen were on the loose there was panic when the airmen showed up at the farm. What happened next? The girls had a plan, would it work? Would they all be safe? Was the town Doctor a German sympathizer? I guess you will have to read the book to find out.It was a good clean reading book. There was the story, the celebrations in a small country town during the holidays. The excitement of the escaped German airmen. The love and friendships. I recommend this book, it is a great story and I think you will like it.Thanks to Roland Moore, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy of the book.

Girls in the war
I didn’t know this was part of a series when I decided to read it. It does seem to stand alone, I didn’t have any trouble following the story. I did think it started a bit slow but gradually gained momentum. I enjoyed the story and the surprise ending. Thanks to Netgalley for the early copy

And killed him.Saving Joyce. .But Doctor Canning just stood and watchedThe whole scenario. He didn't help at all. .turned out he wasA German Sympathisers. But he tried later on the way toHockley Hall Hospital. After the others were taken toThe Hospital by the American soldiers. What could spoil Christmas?
What a gripping second WW story! Loved the style in which it is written with count-down to Christmas. Once the story got to the hostage part I read into the night then again in the morning - I just couldn't put it down as I needed to know who was safe. Not all a happy ending which is reality. My Christmas read is over before Christmas comes! Must buy a couple more books to read over the festive period - I do have 'me' time on Boxing Day and at New Year.

Raw, heart breaking
As land girls Joyce, Esther and Connie prepare for the fifth Christmas of the war, they have little idea of the horrors the next few days will bring. This is a story of love and loss, of the fight for survival of people caught up in war time nightmare situations, of bravery and betrayal. But mostly a story of the strength of friendships forged during hard times.
