Blood Destiny (Blood Curse Series Book 1)

Won me over
I've had this series recommended to me with such passion by close friends that I had to give it a try. I confess the pricing initially put me off but I noticed that recently it's not as exorbitant so was really happy to finally give it a go. I will admit that the Blood Curse series has quite an unusual way of setting up with two very different types of cursed vampires but I'm sorry for me the first twenty five percent or so was very similar to a series I've read featuring dark vampires from the Carpathian mountains . Not exactly the same granted but there are quite a few similarities in their manner and abilities but truth be told we are all influenced by something I guess. I kept on reading ( hey I trust my friends recommendations ) and once past thirty percent got far more involved in the story and how it would all play out.I'm not sure I really liked Nathaniel as he didn't really give Jocelyn much choice and yes I know they meet at what is a very emotional time for him but I really wanted and expected a little more finesse. Jocelyn is supposed to be this hard nosed agent trying to uncover human trafficking but what she finds herself embroiled in is something far more dangerous. I understand that the supernatural world was a shock and scary but hmm I just didn't believe how she initially reacted. Now I do have to say that the idea of the blood curse these guys are under is very interesting and there does seem quite a lot of scope to expand this world. The 'good' vampires are still quite scary and the 'bad' even more so but what is expected of Jocelyn and Nathaniel turned my stomach. This book may feature a close knit family but the author does not sugar coat things and it's both violent and harrowing at times . I will also confess the author had me completely changing my opinion of one of the brothers who I initially wanted to drop kick! So yes it wasn't a perfect read for me but sufficiently different to make me keen to read more. Oh and even though the couple are 'fated' the romance wasn't thrust down the readers throat and when the couple finally came together it seemed appropriate

Good series with engaging characters
Enjoying this series, interesting spin on the origins of the vampire and engaging characters. My only grip is as most modern books on the subject too many chapters are given over to describing the sexual prowess of the featured vampire in grest detail, I am not offended by it but I do think it is a lazy way to fill chapters and gets boring after reading it several times.

Great vampire story
I love a good PNR read every now and again, and I have to say this book was one of the best vampire books I've read. Well written with a great, creative storyline with its own type of vampire, which I thought was really good!! Great characters which I can't wait to read more about. To be honest I couldn't put this book down and can't wait to get into the next one. Yes there are some cheesy lines, there are some hot sex scenes, it is brutally graphic in places, but overall it is a great mix and definitely worth reading.

Not for me
Basically a tale of unsuspecting girl, drawn into a world of vampires. Don't want to give any spoilers. I didn't enjoy this book, I found it focused far too much on details of torture and various hideous ways of killing someone, rather than moving the story along. For me to enjoy a book it has to make me want to turn the page to find out what happens next and sadly this one didn't. I didn't like any of the characters, so I didn't want to be part of that world, it just didn't draw me in. Not for me.

Brilliant Start
I've read this series previously and just started again. I was captivated the first time but now I just have to get to the next one. This series is so appealing as it differs in the historical make-up of the Vampire and I love it.Got to go and read the next one again!!!Highly recommend this read for grasping your attention a d never letting go.

Dissapointed
Having read the Genisis book and quite enjoyed it I thought I was onto a good series but found this very dissapointing. I know its fantasy fiction but too 'unbelievable' whole story line too fast too quick was hoping it to be more like J R Ward wont be bothering with the rest

Good, but disappointing that the main characters change in the other books
Wasn't keen the fact the other books are different stories relating to the 'good guys' the Silivasi family and the odd one with the dark ones (corrupted vampires). But good for those that like that sort of thing.Apart from that, the story was interesting and engaging. The relationship with the main two characters didn't show much connection to begin with but eventually improved a bit (could have been better in other words). Very gory at times too (not that I'm complaining!)
