I installed this on a project boat I have been building, along with a Millennium B-100 mesh seat - it's an awesome combo, perfect, works well and comfortableContrary to what was stated in a prior review, it DOES swivel, though there is a 'lock' of sorts which will make it not swivel, if you'd like to keep it fixed in place.When new, there is a very tight fit between pedestal tube and the black pedestal top. Tight enough that if you don't have much arm strength and no experience with how these work, you may not be able to turn it, especially without a seat attached. Once it is bolted into place and the seat is on, however, it becomes easy to turn when you are sitting on it, or by hand. There is simply a lot of friction because the product is brand new. The tube and base *do not* swivel, only the topThe tube itself is 2 7/8" in diameter, and it is such a perfect fit that getting the seat base/top of pedestal off/on is difficult until it wears in a bit. As I later cut my pedestal down in order to sit lower, I sanded away some of the anodization for a 'quicker swivel', but that likely voids the warranty as the anodization serves to protect the tube from corrosion in the elements.TL;DR: Great piece of hardware, well built, works exactly as advertised, and well worth the price.

We had to replace two captains chairs in our boat. These have been perfect. Strong tight mounting to floor, holds lots of weight, absolutely no issues.

Nice sturdy pedestal. Too tall for my boat as it put my head above the windshield. Cut it down 3" and now it's perfect!

SEAT IS DANGEROUS EVENTUALLY WHEN YOU SIT ON IT THE TUBE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO RAISE THE SEAT WILL COME LOOSE AND FALL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SHAFT AND YOU WILL FALL OFF THE SEAT AS THE SEAT COMPLETELY FALLS OFF THE PEDASTAL IF YOU TRY TO SIT DOWN AND YOU WILL NOT KNOW IF THIS HAS HAPPEND UNTIL YOUR SEAT FALLS COMPLETELY OFF WITH YOU ON IT.

Works well

I’m rebuilding my older fishing boat and got this pedestal to go with a seat I’m installing in the open bow. It’s rugged, strong and was easy to screw into the plywood flooring. The pedestal itself is adjustable from 19-inches in height up to 25.If you want to remove the seat, you can get a slide from the same company that mounts to the underside of the seat and will lock into the top of this pedestal B08H4H23Y1. The challenge is price: this pedestal is $170 and the slide alone is $102, and that’s before you add the cost of the seat. There are other less expensive seat slides available that you could use, without the benefit of getting the two parts that are made for each other.As for this pedestal, I’ve only just begun to use it, so I don’t know how durable it will be or how it will hold up to the weather, but as I say, so far it works well and looks good.

Very poor quality. This product says it is 360* swivel, this is not the case. No swivel. Construction seems cheap. I am returning this product.
