I applied the oil with a HVLP High volume low pressure sprayer it worked great. Hit a few of the areas twice that soaked up the oil. The sauna was warmed up to about 105 degrees. I let it cool until the next day. I turned the heater on and heated it up two more times in three days. The oil was dry and accentuated the grains of the wood. No smoke smell a light oil smell as such when sealing any wood but not overwhelming or very noticeable at all. Overall, gave the product two thumbs up. This restored my sauna to like new condition. Yes, the color of the wood has a darker appearance afterwards. it also gives the wood more depth illuminating various features of the wood grain. In my case, old sweat rings disappeared and even a few spaces where the previous owner had used tape, are difficult to see. I can see them because I know where to look. I completely disassembled my entire sauna to ensure every piece of wood was protected with a nice coating of this product. I used the entire gallon in my three man sauna. This may have been a little more than was needed because I found I had to add a few more heating cycles before the sauna could be used because there was too much oily vapor released for the first couple.
