Naive Set Theory (Dover Books on Mathematics)

A good book
I bought this book as an introduction to set theory because of a recommendation made to me by a friend that studies mathematics. I study physics and wanted to delve into a few areas of math before they came up in my course. I was expecting to come to the subject as a complete novice, but many of the concepts are common sense expressed mathematically and very intuitive. The book itself, although the only one on the subject that I have read, was very good and easy to follow. I recommend to it to anyone, who like me, wasn't looking for strict mathematical rigour but for a taste of the subject.

Very good Introduction to set theory, not mathematics.
This books is very excellent for its purpose, to set the minimum standard of the amount of set theory on must know in order to be a mathematician. Be aware though this is rather an introductory book on set theory, this does not mean it is within the grasp of the everyday person, if you are not very confident with your mathematical background and understanding in notation you will just simply not understand the concepts in this book. Despite this, if you are competent in notation and mathematics, this serves as a great gateway drug into set theory. The topics are spoken in an extremely general way, though i think this is a good element of this book as it exposes the reader to the abstractness and generality set theory is notoriously known for instead of what some introductory book will do and brush the generality under the carpet. The book arrived promptly and in sublime condition. Math books are known for their very good quality and this is no exception, the pages are just exquisite in this book. A very fine edition to set theory and also your book collection indeed.
