Tons of wrong and far outdated info
The only way you should use this book to study is by going through an correcting all the errors in it. For example:(about anorexia) “the pt’s wt needs to be <85% of expected wt. in peds patients this would mean the pt weighs less than the 85 percentile wt for height. Those with a BMI <5% are at risk for developing anorexia(Pg 116)Or pg 119 referencing the 1976 Babson growth charts for preterm infants, replaced in 2003 and updated again in 2013 by fentonPg 121 bariatric surgery “bmi must be at least 50 w/o comorbidities (TCH ref guide says 40) or 40 w comorbidities such as B1, b12, and folate deficiency. since when is b vit deficiency a result of obesity? One question told you how many g/kg protein a baby was getting without telling you what formula they were on.These are just from the questions. In the text to “teach” you about the topicsOr pg 97 using xanthan gum as a thickener is a good idea (but we’ve known it increased NEC risk since 2013)Pg 96 refers to VLBW as less than 1000g (vlbw is 1.5kg, elbw is 1000)And thats just from me randomly landing on that page. So, if you want to study by correcting this book i bet you’ll do great, but do not use this as a reference!
