You get a full color instruction manual over 100 pages long! Who does this anymore? There is also a digital copy in the game's menu. The game is one DVD with the base game (Gettysburg), expansions listed in the product description, and lots of great extra content as a bonus (pictures, quotes, history...). Outside of entering a serial number unique to each disc the game is drm-free. Just put the disc in, enter your serial # and you're done. No online registration/verification.You get tons of content in a totally consumer-friendly package. People interested in realistic civil war combat from a strategic viewpoint would love this game. It's uglier and slower than total war...But far smarter and engrossing in realism.I almost didn't buy bc of the pricetag...But I'm glad I took the chance bc with all the hours I will get the value is there. I enjoyed the heck out of take command 2nd Manassas (kind of a prequel of sorts). The price is high but the package is excellent. And really, considering what the base game and expansions cost separately you're saving $$$ in gaming content.So go check online if this game is for you. It's not for everyone but those who like it...love it. I'm just here to let people know this is a great way to buy it.

Good game, but with too much detail. It is not as much fun as their 2nd manassas game. The map that shows where all the units are is cramped and confusing.The different scenarios are hard. It is a great challenge.I enjoy the brigade command, however all you do is go from place to place.Rearming your troops is very difficult. The ammo wagon never stays in one place. I had to spend time running around chasing the ammo wagon. This really sucks and is silly.I love the basic system, but some ideas were not well thought out.

Cool game since Civil War games are not abundant, but in general controls are clunky and firing smoke doesn't match when the rifles shoot. Not Total War, it's not as smooth or pretty but more detailed with army functions. Three stars for being a good game for Civil War lovers, missing two stars for average graphics and lack of synchronization of the rifle firing which makes it less realistic feeling.

This game puts you right in the action and allows you to make decisions as a troop commander. The background scenery is realistic and looks very much like the actual battlefields. The different battles allow for a multitude of scenarios that will pit you against the opposing forces in challenging ways. Plus, the options allow for skill level and other variables to your liking. This is definitely a game to have for Civil War buffs and gamers.

This is a game that is historically accurate and is fun to play. The normal level is fairly easy to master and win. Excellent graphics and ease of use. Not quite on par with take command, 2nd manassas but close. Well worth the $
