Thankful
This brace has helped my hand tremendously. I have arthritis in that joint and it is extremely painful. I’ve been getting it injected every three months on the dot. I used a different price in the past which did not help to reduce the pain. This brace worked so much better, and is very comfortable. I wear to do as much as I can. However, I am an infusion nurse, and cannot wear it at work.

worth it
found this by chance after figuring out my thumb pain wasn't going away. It had gotten to the point I couldnt sleep, couldnt really use my hand, it was bad! Tried injection, didnt help, so when I found this I thought I'd give it a try vs thinking surgery. It seemed pretty expensive for what I was seeing but I was pretty desperate. So glad I did. After about a day my pain was pretty much gone - as long as I was wearing it. I have had it for 4 months now and I wear this thing 23.5 hours a day. I can pretty much do anything as long as I have it on. I'm a 60 year old male who likes to build things, yard work, etc. It lets me do it all.It has held up very well- I am replacing the velcro strap today for the first time. I have worn it swimming, and it did fine. I remove it to wash my hands and cook, that's about it.Be sure you are buying this for pain at the base of the thumb- that is what it's designed to do.Finally, I'm kind of cheap, so spending $80 on this was a leap of faith, but even though they probably make $79 on this it was still the best money I've ever spent. some times you have to look at the big picture.

Must have for thumb pain
Helps thumb pain, but you can still hold a mouse, type, workout, etc easily. Washable. Wish it came with two fabric liners though because when you wash the liner, you have to just wear the plastic on your skin while the liner dries and it makes you sweat!

HARD PLASTIC
UPDATE: Their return label prints out so big that I would need a shoebox to send back this tiny thing. I have tried eight different ways (no kidding) to shrink the label, but they've got it locked in. They want the customer to pay to send it back. Really?! This bit of plastic was $80 and they want the customer to pay for the return. This company is why medical supply companies have such horrible reputations.I was sooooo hoping this would be the answer to my painful thumb joint. I use my hands a lot (seamstress, homemaker). But this just caused me more pain, no matter how I adjusted the strap. If this was made out of heavy silicon with a little pad on the inside, so it could mold to your hand, rather than being so hard it just cuts into your skin, it MGHT be worth $80. As it is, just skip this one. If you have arthritis in your thumb, this will just make it worse.

Best idea ever
Love it and provides support for my recent CMC replacement surgery when biking. Love the adjust-ability of it and getting an extra strap.

Did not sit correctly on my hand
I was so excited to get this brace! As soon as it arrived I tore it out of the packaging and put it on. It fit pretty well on the thumb itself, but did not sit well with the rest of my hand. The palm side of the brace where the velcro attaches sticks out (and catches on things), and on the back on my hand the brace dug in and pushed in on a nerve and muscle. The brace did make my thumb feel more secure and I did experience less pain in the joint, but awkward pain on the back of my hand where the brace was digging in made it hard to wear.I like that it has replaceable straps, I likes the stability it brought to my aching thumb joint. I hated that no matter how hard I tried I could not get it to stop digging in to the back of my hand below my index finger. From what I've read here it doesn't seem to make sense to return it as close to half of what I paid for it won't be refunded anyway. So I'm going to keep the brace and see of perhaps a PT can help me heat it and adjust it so it stops causing pain on my back on my hand, and get that piece on the palm side that sticks out to lay flat. In the meantime, I have ordered a different brace to see if it will fit my hand better.

Thumbs up!👍🏻
Update:Ordering this type product is not the same as ordering a pre-made pair of shoes. The minor modification I made to this new purchased product did not even last two days. And I ordered their medium sized product, even tho I have a small wrist and hand, believing it would fit better than the small competitor’s product I bought a couple years ago at the Dr.’s office. So no such luck. The problem for me seems to be that the solid plastic band that sits between the thumb and index finger is not wide enough to prevent my thumb from further injury. Also the other plastic parts do not cup either the base of my thumb, nor below the small finger at the heal of my hand.(Neither did the other brand hand support product). Therefore the strap across my hand cannot possibly give any steady and/or sturdy support without crushing/folding my thumb into the palm, no matter how many ways I try toI adjust it.Meh.(So in retrospect will probably need to visit the hand specialist once again, to get a fully new, custom-made replacement support brace made because the old one that was made is now disintegrating….probably the best solution overall considering that not everyone’s hand is going to fit this type of uniformly made, 3-size-only, product.Previous review:The personalized (and expensive) hand brace that was made for me by my hand therapist, broke after three years of heavy use.I tried the other product listed here, it helped but it was uncomfortable and sweaty, even with the vents cut into the base.I was unable to modify it, and there were no additional parts or pads offered. My hand size is somewhere between a small and a medium for this newer product I just purchased. So I purchased the medium. But I already like it much better than the other brand.So….In order to obtain the relief I needed and avoid causing injury to my thumb, it was necessary to stuff about a third of an inch thick, inch long pad, between my thumb and first finger, along the webbing of my hand that spans between the two fingers.I don’t blame the design….the heal of my thumb is larger than more typical small hands, (probably from the many years of the hands-on type of work I did for a living, along with playing piano and several other musical instruments), so that a small size is too small, but a medium size is just a tad too big.But once the pad is in place….it fits perfectly!I also appreciate the extra straps, and liner that comes with this product, and especially appreciate these can be reordered. That makes this product far more comfortable than either one of the two previous thumb braces I used these last three years.
